It is a complete meal by itself because of dal used in tadka. I usually serve potato curry for additional taste

Just skip both the dals. I will be super yummy. You don't want those crunchy dals diverting you from the tomatoes.

After seeing this I got to know that when ever my mom makes tomato curry and mix in rice it is called as tomato rice....🤣🤣🤣 Just that you make tomato curry and add it in rice doesn't make tomato rice. Chef please show the proper way to make tomato rice not tomato curry and adding in rice.

i dont understand why you all chef blindly follow south indian style of cooking.Adding chana dal,urad dal with rice....does it realy give any nice flavour?You may have traid your own style....without adding those things...

@sonne2 It is not a show. He does this on his website. We can buy DVDs. I bought the popular DVDs you can go his website and see all the shows for free and learn. He is good and show all these for free. I love his programs. Makes it so simple and enjoyable. In fact I started cooking and I enjoy so much.

Never cook the ginger with skin. Always the skin should be removed. People around the world do write a lot and say a lot in the electronic media. It is not my intention people should agree to my comment but what i know that in TAMIL LANGUAGE there is a say --- Inchchikku (for ginger) thole(skin) nanchchu (poison). Video makers even some time the famous chefs use none stick pans in their shows using metal spoons and plastic spoons. It is in fact to be educate the viewers ( not all need to be) about hygienic and healthy cooking. World is so much damaged already by wrong doings needs to be reversed and corrected. Together we all can make this happen. I enjoy your postings very much. Thank you.

@anilbobbili I am sorry for some reason I thought he is Tamil guy. Adding hinge in most of his cookings goes with Tamils. He mentioned in one of the videos that his mother made something which is common in Tamilnadu. Wherever he is from he is simply great. By the way, I am a Telugu guy too (Nellore). Sir! Actually instead of chenna dal, urad dal, Mustard seeds, in lot of Telugu videos, they said to first put cumin seeds, Dalchini, elachi etc sir But your way of cooking I haven't tried. Thank you so much sir. You are so famous sir 🙏

chef where do you live.In the other vedio you said outside its snow I m wondering where do you get this curry leave.becuz as far i know we get curry leave in india easily and grow easy ..however i am living in wyoming which is a very cold place .Can i grow curry leave in such a snow place.thanks.

@juneg1964 No issues...his name is Sanjay Thumma and originally from wesrt godavari dist . Initially even i thought he may be from TN but tahts not the case. By the way in some areas/communities in AP hinge is added tin their food.Anyway Sanjay is an amazing cook and he brings back all the old memories by cooking a lot of authentic andhra dishes.

give some insigights on giving difference in each disttrict old receipe methods from karnataka and andhra y often from Karnataka more dry coconut is that their special sweets barfi coconut barfi often idealizing that why not fresh coconut reasons is it andra or karnataka uses dry coconut any style of cooking be it chutney to any thing they highly use dry coconut y that done what is specific reason

I have seen that peeling the tomato (by quick blanching) makes the dish a little better for folks who do not like the texture of tomato peel.

I cooked this recipe with about 1.5 cup boiled leftover rice and it turned out amazing. I only will not add chana and urad daal next time as I don't like them in upma as well but that's my personal choice, those who like that crunch should add it.

this is my most favourite vah re vah recipe , i have made it many times, i have it with onion raita, i also add tomato ketchup and butter at the end to make it more tasty. i did not have urad and chana dal so added peanuts and garlic . Thank you chef :):):)
