I see your point about grape vs cherry size tomatoes. This was an interesting experiment. Tomatoes require a lot of space. This was my 1st yr growing tomato seedlings. I started them too late:-( I did have Mini Love watermelon produce (2) melons. It is a (75) day melon. I just had another baby one die on the vine. It was too young to be productive. Sweet 100 made a tall vine. We don't get a lot of sun and tomatoes are tropical plants.

This year I tried paul robeson based on youtube video taste tests. I wasn't impressed. It was ok, just very bland and mild. What surprised me was a free packet I got in one of my orders. Burpee supersteak tasted amazing and gave me 2 of the largest tomatoes I have ever grown. Downside was I only got 6 tomatoes off that one. Green zebra is not the same as the 6 oz globe shaped yellow green with dark green stripes that I grew in the early 2000s. These were pink lobed tomatoes with faint green stripes and very bland. Black prince was pretty but bland. Still waiting for a brandywine to ripen. Only 4 tomatoes on that one. Sun gold cherry is very sweet. Yellow pear is now a tree. They tend to split when ripe though and not as sweet as sun gold. Next year I'm growing a prolific producer like celebrity in addition to new heirlooms I want to try. I never had enough all at once to make a decent size batch of salsa. Just a few here and there throughout the summer as a special treat. My neighbor let's me plant in front of his deck because he gets full sun all day, but only room for 7 plants and I spaced them closer than I should have which may have affected production. A disappointing summer for tomatoes, but looking forward to trying again next year!
