Have it, it's my favorite portrait lens, that's where it shines the most i think, the skin color rendering, the nice bokeh, the best focal length to get the portrait and some of the background, i love it!

Funny enough, I have three of them under the Auto Chinon brand name.

I've owned all three. I sold the Revuenon and the Rikenon, but I kept the Sears as it was slightly better all around. Maybe because it was in near mint condition as well. SN# 270044.

One coming in the mail attached to a Yashica body. Under 30. Seller not the guy to ask if the mount is M42 or Yashica Contax. Early Sears Auto 55mm 1.4's were M42. We'll see. Not my first. But lenses get problems just looking at them, so I bought this one as backup. And the price...! I probably have a third one I forgot I bought...

If you ever buy a this lens that say, has a dot of fungus on the rear element toward the edge, and you're not a lens repairer, Rotate the lens so that the rear element is flush with the edge of the rear mount, then place the lens on the warm area of your gas stove for 20 minutes. (it's more hot that warm) Your fungus is now D.O.A. . I had no problems with the lens from this treatment...no sticking, no focus or iris tightening up, etc.

Great tip. I wonder if this treatment could also help loosen up some old helicoid grease.

are these lenses related to the mamiya 55mm f1.4? thanks for the vid!

I think so. I just looked at my Mamiya 55 1.4 and it also has the flat rear element, so it's probably another version of the same lens.

Are these radioactive ?

I've heard some 55 1.4's are radioactive and some aren't. If the glass is turning yellow, then it has radioactive thorium.
