I've probably watched all of Tommy's KZitem videos -- multiple times -- hundreds of hours. But I can still sit here and watch two hours of a video I've already seen and I just get sucked right back in -- almost like I'm seeing him for the first time. Tommy, as a long time fan, you never cease to amaze me.

I had not ever been introduced to any of his work, and, in fact, I had never heard of TOMMY EMMANUEL before today. A friend of mine shared Tommy playing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" in a post on FB, and I almost passed it up, it is not one of my favorite songs, and I thought I had heard it done about every way it could be, so I was gonna pass it up. I have spent the last 3 hours watching, listening, BEING AMAZED by, arguably, one of the best Guitar players of all time! I am blown away by the playing prowess and the outright mastery of the instrument that this man shows and shares with the audience, and when there's no actual audience, he is still a serious bad-ass for the camera, but mostly he IS the music that he plays! It flows out of every bit of him, it seems, and not only is this a rare thing, I think we could ALL agree that it is a wonderous thing, as well! Thank you Tommy, you have changed the way that I am gonna look at music, just a little bit, but forever!!!

+FrenchSquareDancer I can relate to both you guys, I'm 16 and the music I hear today are arguably bad. I was listening to some Chet Atkins the other day and came across him and tommy playing waltzing Matilda on the album "the day fingerpickers took over the world" and then I got so damn amazed by this guys skill as well as him wonderful melodic tunes too. Tommy is easily one of the most underrated musicians in the world..

Saw him last week in Heidelberg, Germany. Came to the meet and greet where he chatted and signed autographs. He signed the guitar I'd built. Just a super nice nice man. When he comes through Vegas, (and I'm sure he will), you won't regret going. I wish I'd taken my 9-year-olds (who play).

Such a brilliant, brillant, brilliance this Tommy possess. His facial expressions just talk..... makes one see the music...his body actions take you with him....and such a humbleness that is so rarely seen...and humourous and homey with such an exquisite gift, talent, blessing! A true master...no...god of his craft! Love him!

I'm a baby boomer, grew up in the 60's. To me there are a handful of guitarist who I consider The DA BOMB. Chet Atkins, Jimi Hendricks, Eddie Van Halen, Steven Vie, Joe Satriani and Tommy Emamuel. What sets them apart from other guitarist is their inovation. People will argue I'm leaving off many gifted musicians. the way i look at it, they are the best, top shelf and Ichi Bon and those guys earned it and deserve to be given such consideration.

+Nik Bates Actually Esteban Dunn is incorrect, sadly. He does play THAT song next, around 15:10 The song that Tommy is actually playing from 14:45 to almost the 15:05 mark is the Ancient Chinese Torture Song known as "Tu Ning". You may not have recognized it because it is played differently each time it is played, by each player who plays it, and on each instrument it is played upon. It has been a controversial song since the one who wrote it, the first musician to play the first tunable instrument, played the song for the very first time. Known to start riots, break up bands, and separate musicians from their parents' garages, there are few who dare so boldly to play it live, on stage, and in front of an audience. Tribute to the power this man holds over an audience, and I'd bet he could play the "long version" and get no adverse reaction from his audience, as well. Canadian Progressive-rock gurus "RUSH" included it on their album "2112" as a prelude into the song "Discovery/Presentation" on the half-album long, theme-saga title track, "2112", and that may very well be the most widely known and socially accepted version of "Tu Ning" in recording history. Tommy puts his own spin on it here, throwing in a decidedly Oriental oriented flair at the end, and the favorable reaction from the crowd shows that his fans are steadfast and die-hard "Tony Enamel" fans. Well done Mr. Emmanuel, well done!! I hope this helps, Nick Bates, and if not, mheh. At least while you were reading you were smilin', and if not, mheh! I was!!
