One of the most beautiful swedish songs❤️ It’s a song from the swedish movie Emil i Lönneberga from 1971. The story about Emil is written by Astrid Lindgren, one of Swedens most famous authors, and she also wrote the lyrics to this song❤️

Fattig bonddräng ("Poor peasant") is a song with music by Georg Riedel and lyrics by Astrid Lindgren. The song is about the peasants in the past in Sweden. It was released in 1971 for the film Emil in Lönneberga, where it is sung by the farmhand Alfred (played by Björn Gustafson). The song, which was written directly for the film and is published in Hujedamej and other songs by Astrid Lindgren from 1991, takes a stand for the peasant in the hard peasant life of the past. It has been recorded by many different artists, including Tommy Körberg, who sang it at Astrid Lindgren's funeral.

@Jo_Lubi för 2 minuter sedan (redigerad) English lyrics Iam a poor farmworker, but I live anyway. Days come and go, while I work hard, harrowing, sowing seeds and plowing, sweeping the barn floor, digging and carrying walk behind my cattle, screaming, whistling and swearing. I am a poor farmworker and I chew my tobacco And when Saturday comes, I want to get drunk. Then, when I get high-spirited, I want to tussle and fight Sleep at a girl’s house, that’s what I’d like to do too, of course. Then,Sunday comes and our priest wants me to go to church, but that is when I sleep the most. Priests can sleep the whole day on Monday ,but a poor farmworker must start working again. That’s how the week goes, every day and every year. I walk with my scythe and I plow and sow seeds I guide my cattle and pile hay Harrow, work and slave and one day I shall die. Stands there, poor farmworker, before Heaven’s gate A little scared and sorry for the sins I committed. One shall not drink, be with girls and fight. The Lord, God in Heaven is quite disappointed, of course. But then the Lord says: poor farmworker, come here, I’ve seen your struggle and your persistent hard work, Therefore, poor farmworker, you are welcome here. Therefor poor farmworker, you will be near me. Oh, I, the poor farmworker stand so quiet before God And then he dresses me with the whitest of all garments. Now, says the Lord, your work is done. Now, poor farmworker, you may rest.

I love this song. I sang this at my grandfathers funeral. I have it translated to English for my American relatives and I thought I could share it. I am a poor farm hand But still, I’m alive. Days come and go and while I keep toiling. Harrowing, seeding and plowing Mucking, digging and carrying Walking behind my oxen, Shouting, whistling and swearing I am a poor farm hand And I chew my tobacco And when Saturday arrives I want to get myself drunk Then, when I’ve gotten worked up I want to brawl and fight. And of course I want to rest with a girl. Then Sunday arrives and our priest wants to see me in church But usually I’m asleep instead The priest can sleep all Monday but For a poor farm hand, the work starts again In that way the week goes, All the days and the years I swing my scythe, and I plow and I sow. I drive my oxen and I harvest the hay Harrow, seed and toils And in the end, I will die. There stands a poor farm hand In front of the heavenly gates A little scared and sad About the sins I’ve committed You shouldn’t drink, sleep with girls and fight The good Lord in heaven is probably displeased But then the Lord says “Poor farm hand, come here!” “I have seen how you have worked and your ongoing grind” “That’s why” The lord says “you are welcome here” “That’s why, poor farm hand, you will be at my side” And I, a poor farm hand Stand very still in front of God And he dresses me in a raiment white as the whitest snow “Now” The lord says “now Is your work done” “Now, poor farm hand, now you can finally rest”

Love this song from my childhood. This song might be quite tricky if you are learning Swedish, due the fact that lyrics are from the early 70's and the language has changed quite a lot since then. I reckon many teenagers today would have issues with a few words in the lyrics.

The language was old already in the 70's. The books and movie is supposed to take place in the early 1900's.

You can break up the word _Bonddräng_ to Bond Dräng, with a small pause between Bond, and Dräng. Hence, the double D is not indicating a "short" N. Also, Bond in *not* to be confused with the name Bond, like in Jams Bond 😄😉. You can almost say it like this: Boooond, drääääng.

"Fattag Badrag." Yes. That is perfect pronounciation. Not at all for the title of this song, but if you're creating a new Star Wars character, it would be perfect. lol
