The tommy Lee signatures definitely have a front weight to them. I think that just goes for his style, hard hitting! haha And get out! They are 2B's!? I guess that makes sense then haha. You'll lose it if you try out the Thomas Lang sticks. They almost double as lumber! haha making 2B's feel like pencils LOL The thing I like about ahead is that the white tips on the sticks look super sharp! and you can replace the sleeves! The back and forth of the cowbell/ride cymbal part that Rob Affuso does in that song is still impossible for me. Very good too that you are wearing headphones...forget what people think. A fucking masterpiece. My only critique is the end of livewire. The three cowbell hits. If you watch the music video Lee is doing almost a left arm- head cover while attacking the cowbell with a great facial expression. If you could implement that into your repertoire, you good sir, would become a legend. Maybe next you could do one for the drummer from 80s band firehouse. Athough not as well known as Tommy Lee, he manages to work in a lot of cowbell into their music. Fucking 80s were the best time to grow up. Oh to be a teenage hood again

I'll Never forget, at 12-13 I shoveled snow, collected cans & bottles & just saved that money. That day came & I asked my brother to take me to cash in, get all my $ I saved & headed to get my 1st drumset. What a glorious day that was. Watching this takes me right back to that very day. The songs u play I played em too, over & over until I knew em by heart so I could just keep bashing em out myself. My 2nd kit I was workin for my unc & we saw em in someone's basement. The kid didn't want em, the dad was willing to sell em & unc got em for me. Now that's when I started gettin the obsession & stayed in my room playin to every song I'd ever heard. Crue, Metallica, A. Saint, any song from every hair & thrash band in the 80's (this was pre-grunge too). thanks again 👍

Mike that's such a cool story!! Do you still play now? And a similar one!! I bought this kit by cutting 8 lawns a week while in elementary school, as well as shovelling haha. Add in school and a real job once I was in high school... BOOM Brand new kit! I wouldn't trade it for the world. I bet you have the same feelings with yours!

Come On and Dance is very unique with the double hits on the cowbell in the bridge. [triplet feel, but only playing the second and third notes of the triplet]. Keep Your Eye on the Money is absolutely the most fun Motley Crue song to play on drums!! [ So is Wild side, but no cowbell!]

Hey Tyler! That one actually doesn't have any cowbell in it. I think I know the part you're talking about though, it's that hi hat groove right before the verses. It sounds almost like a hammer on an anvil, it's very metallic instead of the tone that his cowbell has from that album. I've seen some covers that use a steel hand railing of sorts. Either way, good catch!

People get hung up on technical prowess and the like but Tommy is an awesome Rock n Roll drummer he’s more than just a drummer he’s part of the show and a Rock star! There’s a difference between being a great drummer and being a great entertainer! If you’re going to a MC show looking for technique your missing the point.

After listening back, I’m almost positive that they had a separate track for the cowbell on the Girls Girls Girls album. There are some fills and beats that are nearly impossible at the end of Dancing on Glass while also having that cowbell going. 😂 specifically at 3:12 or so in the actual track, he is doing a steady hi hat foot pattern over one of his classic washing machine beats, then nailing some pretty awesome cymbal chokes and snare fills… but that cowbell keeps going. Which would be almost physically impossible lmao AAAAaanyways 😂 sorry, I was literally blown away a few weeks ago when listening and coming to that realization. Just Happy this came across my feed this morn! Honestly at Early-morning low volume that Sig. Bell sounds Very accurate to original, in context so this was also first vid I noticed where it was used Right. I was kinda on fence between picking this bell up or the Mike Johnston & ended up with a cheapo LP for now,, plus added a little magnet to it (like mikes), After watching your vid kinda leaning back towards the Tommy-bell now!:) Great video, great playing & excellent feature of that relatively new Signature model Cowbell!!
