Better to remake an not-so-good movie well than remaking a good movie not-so-well. There's a ton of not so-good-movies where I'd like to see someone build on the good bits and learn from mistakes. Instead they usually start beating the dead horse of nostalgia or try to make lightning strike twice.

this movie makes me miss those days when I first began reading Stephen King.....I literally couldn't read each book fast enough. King's ability to transcend typical first person or narrative "rules" in fiction is inspiring. And I'm ok with the King movies but HATE it when people who have no idea there was even a book to read will tell you things like, "yeah I love King's stuff"...of course they've never read his books, just saw "his" movies. And on the notion of The DarK Tower Movie idea of placing a african american actor to play Roland is about as insulting to the book as casting a white woman to play Mother Abigail in The Stand. Stick to the book.

kelly logan Me too! I used to have to keep reading until I finished King's books, my mum would get cross at me because I couldn't even stop reading whilst eating my dinner. TV/Film adaptations were are not bad, but reading his books is something very special.
@PunchDrunkLizzy
6 жыл бұрын
The Dark Tower movie was awful. The only thing about it that I liked was the guy who played Roland. It didn't particularly bother me that he was a black guy instead of the Clint Eastwood type like I always saw while reading the books. At least Idris Elba is a decent actor. I can overlook inconsistencies like that if the actor does his or her job well. What did really bother me was Matthew McConaughey as Walter. He really, really sucked as the man in black. He's always been a terrible actor and they never even should've considered him. As for the movie itself, no, they never should've strayed from the source material so much. The plot barely made sense and I've read the books at least four times. If they'd just take the Dark Tower series and turn it into a show on HBO (or miniseries) or something it'd probably be okay then.

I didn't like the book that much. It didn't as much personality as this movie did. It just had too much focus on the background Gard, Bobby and Ruth, that by the time the action happens, it's just bleak, almost trite. The movie was ok, considering it was a tv movie.
