This is the first time I have ever seen footage of these guys live. I am really surprised how well they pulled off this song. The studio version is so dense, I would have thought playing it live would be impossible.

If would've bet money that there were no recordings of Tones on Tail performing live. This is amazing! I know Love and Rockets is a treasured band of the 80's, but you just cannot help but wonder what would've happened if Tones on Tail had stayed together. I bet even Daniel Ash has his regrets. This band went so deep and it was never the same after 1985.

There were several cassette bootlegs; I had 3 I gathered in the early 90s when eBay first kicked in. Never Never in Forever saw a vinyl one, though. This is better quality than any of the 3 cassettes, so you aren't missing a thing, fortunately

After so much time, to see this is so cool. A big, big influence on me. Have shared drinks and conversations with Daniel (and also David J), saw Bauhaus again earlier this year, and hear their on-going influence on my own music. This is my favorite Bauhaus related music project, thank you so much.

I feel Tones on Tail was Daniel’s most inspired work. I listen to the bass lines of TOT and there is no comparison to the bass work on Seventh Dream….have been listening to this for 40+ years.

This is so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the TOT song that made me want to learn to play all the TOT bass lines. The atmosphere of the song, punctuated by that distortion on the bass, and then back to the quite part. Absolutely brilliant.

Taliesin Echoes Your covers are great. Likewise it was this track that gave me my punk rock eureka moment; I could do stuff like this myself in my bedroom! And still do to this day. Are you on soundcloud?
@taliesinechoes4513
5 жыл бұрын
@@AKBrechin Thank you and hello. Yes, I've got some stuff on soundcloud, but it's from a music project that sounds nothing like what I normally do. I also have a bunch of song ideas that were directly influenced by Tones On Tail. Rough drafts of some of them are secretly hidden on KZitem. The reason these drafts were posted in a secret account is, in the late summer of 2015, about a year before I became friends with Glenn Campling, I was lead to believe, by Daniel Ash's girlfriend, who was acting as the eyes and ears for Danny on social media outlets like Facebook, and apparently KZitem (she told me that Danny had seen my TOT bass cover videos and liked them), that he was looking to do another release, with a desire to go back to the feel of TOT, and that he was considering 2 bassist. Saude's bassist and me. Obviously I was extremely flattered. I told her that I had some ideas that I could send them. She said ok, so I posted about 14 song ideas on another KZitem account that I created just for them to hear. She said she'd pass them alone. Till this day I've seen no evidence that she ever did. In December of 2016 I got a message from her asking if I could tell her, again, where to find the KZitem page of me doing TOT covers, and any instructional videos I had on how to play TOT bass lines, especially for the song Go! (by then I had some instructional videos up, but not for Go!). I also know that Kevin Haskins daughter, Diva (who was extremely nice to me the 2 times we met) used these videos, to some degree, to learn how to play those bass lines. She told this in the 1st FB PM sent me, after friend requesting me. I recently had a relatively new, fully worked out instrument, again, influenced by that TOT feel, used in a experimental film, still in the works, call Paper Shadows. I'll have to get around to posting that on my main KZitem page.

Taliesin Echoes wow, that’s quite a story! I contacted Glenn via the Lonestation site a couple of years ago, as I was keen for him to hear my music which is heavily influenced by TOT... I don’t know if he ever listened but I got the impression that something Tones-based was in the offing; DA has always said Tones was his favourite project. And then within days, Poptone was announced! Shame they never came to the UK - especially as I missed out on TOT in 1984 - my parents wouldn’t let me go as I had an exam the next day! Keep up the good work, my friend. (I wonder how many others have worked out that Lonestation is an anagram of TOT...?)
@taliesinechoes4513

@@AKBrechin It sounds like you're doing some interesting music. Do you have anything I can hear? As for Lonestation being an anagram, and if others figured that out, I can tell you that I didn't figure it out. Glenn told me. I thought that was great.
