Yes, but they "sacrifice" themselves VOLUNTARILY. Despite what they say, they did know that football is a dangerous that can cause irreparable harm. These new revelations about CTE certainly hasn't stopped the current NFL players from playing has it?

Tony Dorsett and I came along at the same time, he at Pitt and I at Northwestern. Tony was sensational at Pitt, and I was an "above average" running back at Northwestern. After our college careers he went on to the NFL and and I went to Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. I am so sorry for Tony, but I am so happy that I quit football when I did! False, there's different types of brain injuries though. A TBI can be repaired. Our brains are elastic and there's a lot of natural ways to relieve CTE. I think early this year they found a way to get rid of the tau protein build up in the brain (CTE). We know very little about the brain, I know friends who have experienced TBI's and they recovered after proper supplementation and programs to train their mind. CTE is a different story though.

My dad played football in high school and college during the same era as Dorsett, and he is fine. I play now. I plan on playing in college. If I can I’d love to go pro. The game has gotten so much safer. Hell, I can’t even sack the quarterback without getting a flag pulled. To all the parents who don’t want their kids to play football: I’m not telling you how to parent your children, but football has made me become more of a responsible young man and football convinced me that life is a team game. I’ve taken the life lessons I learned on the football field and applied that to my academics, Boy Scouts, track, student council, and everything I do. Remember, he played back in the 1970s, a time when this stuff wasn’t known. Now it is. So please, don’t say football itself is the problem. Tony said it himself, it’s the people who knew about it and didn’t act on it faults. Not the game itself. Don’t make your son miss the opportunity of a lifetime. God bless you tony and God bless all of you.

I give credit to Tony for speaking out, couldnt have been easy. But when players say owners knew more about the physical dangers than they did it just doesnt make sense. No one, years ago, knew exactly what would happen to players years later. Common sense has to tell you that football is dangerous. Other retired players have said they would not be a part of the lawsuit against the nfl because they knew the dangers and loved the game and the money and would do it again.
