Jarath Hemphill This is for the first 3 minutes, the translation is probably not 100 % correct, I did it fast, so I'm sorry if there's some mistakes in here: Reporter: the artist Tooji has gotten both positive and negative reactions to the controversial music video where he confronts the church's treatment of gay people. Reporter: Welcome in the studio Tooji, there was many reactions yesterday.. . Tooji: yes, it got kinda heated. Reporter: you have said that this is the most important thing you have done, to come out, explain why. Tooji: I hadn't thought to share that part of me because do straight people have to come out? If there's going to be equality then it should be true equality, and then my sexuality shouldn't matter. But it was one person who made a difference for me, and who made an impact, there was one who worked for the gay helpline, and who told me that there were many gay people with a minority background, and especially those with a religious background, who struggle a lot, there's a high suicide rate, and it's a very vulnerable group. Because their family do not accept them, and they feel like God doesn't accept them. That was the basis for me to make this video, and this work of art, and will provoke a debate, to promote true equality. Reporter: so it wasn't because you yourself felt the need to.. be at peace with yourself, to use an almost religious expression, you want to help others? Tooji: I have a lot of frustration, because of the subject, that the church has, and religion especially has, shamed homosexuality in so many centuries, and has resulted in so many youths being harassed and with a higher suicide rate with psychological disorders, and this is something we have to confront, for example in 2014 we got an all-including anti-discrimination law, but the church is exempt from it, so they are free to discriminate, with the state's blessing.

Amiiinka No problem :) I kinda didn't want to translate what the other gay guy said though because he's very negative towards Tooji and the music video, he's like very condescending towards him. I get that he has an opinion and I respect that, he has every right to disagree with what Tooji did, using the church in that way, but it's the way he says it.. "I'm married to my husband and our kids.. I don't want people to look at gay people and only think about sex or that we're fixated on sex.. it's about love". Like I get what he's saying, but isn't sex part of love too? What's so bad about showing that? I think so many gay people just want to blend in, act like straight people, and while that might be the right choice for some.. it's not for everyone. Like I know that many gay people don't want to get married, because they see it as a straight institution. BTW; I support gay marriage, of course I do, it's just.. I just wish some LGBT people weren't so judgmental, they need to realize that their life might not be the right life for everyone, and that should be ok too, you know?

Kristine Andersen I absolutely agree with you. With all what you said. People just need to be more tolerant. I mean in general. Not only straight vs. LGBTQ+ people. But even inside the LGBTQ+ komunity. I love what Tooji do. For what he fighting for. I love him! :)
