Jamel ... I stumbled upon you by complete accident, and I started watching you about 5 hrs ago when I saw your reaction to Neil Peart's drum solo from the 30th anniversary concert in Frankfurt...about 5 minutes or so in, I was sold and subscribed immediately. I've got to bounce for now because the sun is coming up soon here on the east coast, but I had to throw you a shout out brother. I love your enthusiasm in discovering all this music that is new to you. I've sat here watching, laughing, smiling, & crying joyously for the last 5 hours and I can say that you've lifted my spirits & made me re-appreciate some of this music that I've known for years all over again like they were new again. [Gen X-er here who grew up on his dad's tunes of the classic rock era, and came of age in the 90s era of alternative & golden age of hiphop]. I love and respect your obvious passion for music, but your open mind & soul is what separates you from the pack. Many of us could learn alot from you in that regard. The world needs more people like you my friend, don't ever change. I always tell people there is good and bad music in every genre, and you've got to be willing to try everything once or you'll never know if you like something. There is no such thing as a "best band" or "best genre". Music is like ice cream. There are tons of flavors out there, and who am I to tell someone strawberry is better than pistachio or vice versa. It's all about preference and perspective. Keep on keepin' on my man. Glad to see you're opening a whole new world of music and diving in with a new perspective on all of it. I am kind of jealous that I can't recapture that feeling of listening to a lot of this stuff for the first time again, but watching you do it is a close runner up to that. You have a great attitude and outlook on things and you're gonna make a great father someday if you're not already one. PS - I would have to say if you love the whole "Take a ride" style of rock song, then an ABSOLUTE MUST is Thick As A Brick by Jethro Tull. It'll absolutely blow your mind. Talk about a journey 🤯💯☮🕉

This is still my favorite group, other than Led Zeppelin. I hope you are doing well. I like listening to their videos with you. I remember when their first album dropped and I bought the cd (it's a silver disc lol) I listened to it and called my best friend and told him he had to stop everything and come over Immediately to hear this album. Yeah,,, he's hooked still. We've been to many concerts o and others. Great stuff. For me, they are second place to the true God's of Rock, Led Zeppelin, but I'm 57 years old and survived many punk rock and metal slam dancing, and stage diving pits, including Pantera, with Coal Chamber, and Anthrax. That was the most insane awesome concert ever.they all got on stage at the end and did Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath. As well as Ted Nugent. I don't expect you to find this comment, but I respect all your videos and your comments, I hope you are reaping what you sow because it's always sounded honest to me. Thank you for listening to what I'm hearing Bro.

Definitely a fav. It pairs such a visual for me. Like a cosmic stew with the hopeful ingredients being sprinkled in and the percolation the low boil to the rising up of something undeniably powerful, a force to be reckoned with. The rise up the battle and the victory. It’s a masterpiece

I am not surprised by your reaction to TOOL. Us long time TOOL fans know what we have in TOOL. We all know what they can do. It's cool seeing a whole new generation finding out for the first time. Now that you've entered the TOOL rabbit hole, there ain't no turning back. Go back to their older stuff. It doesn't matter what song you choose. They're all amazing. I guarantee you, do more TOOL reactions and the TOOL Army will come. 😊😊

I like the original better but they’re both ridiculously masterful. Pushit will always be in top 3 Tool for me. And that’s a reeeeally hard thing to decide, as y’all know 😂💜🔧

Now that we have you, you need to listen to the songs "Eulogy" (off of Aenema) and "Lateralus" (off of Lateralus). Two more Tool songs to draw you even further in. I have to admit, Pneuma is probably one of the most epic songs Tool has ever recorded. It is so huge and sweeping and has so much power and grace to it. It's a perfect place to be introduced to the band. Now you get to work backwards and find that they have always been this kind of band in the industry. As far back as Opiate, they were on another level. Have fun. You get to experience all of that for the first time. What a blessing.

Musically, to me... this was a new version of Third Eye off their Aenima album. Which until this album, Third Eye was my favorite Tool song. Just takes you on a journey.

I’ve been listening to Tool since 91-92. I’m 41 now. I’ve judged almost every other band against their standard since. Very few live up. I like music of most eras, but truly believe the late 80’s/90’s/early 2000’s was critical mass of GREAT BANDS. Too many to name, but my faves were Tool (and side projects) was Pantera (and side projects), Nine Inch Nails, Manson, Alice, etc, etc.

I could see from the way you were bobbing your head exactly what layer of the polyrhythm was catching your ear, pretty amazing to watch. Good job catching the groove on so many layers on first listen!

Tool: Let's put as many cool sounding riffs in one song as we can. Tool: OK
@SmedleyButlerIII

There's an interview where Danny Carey says they liked that rhythm pattern (at the beginning of the song) and wanted to build an entire set of poly rhythms to branch off into, around that original rhythm...and "keep it ticking in the back of your head, nomatter how far you might branch off into something way out there". So that means the tempo to this song never changes, and keeps that xylophone beat the entire time!!??!???

I’d like to start off by saying I am a pure metal head but I like to listen to a lot of music. From old KRS One, Mobb Deep, sepultura, slayer, beastie boys, to fit for an autopsy and whitechapel. I could go on and on. But tool is by far and away, the band I listen the most. They make you think and feel, like no other band can. Which you’ve picked up on. Props to you Jamel. They are like the modern day ELP. Only in that they stood out because they weren’t doing what anyone else was. Every member of the band is a musical genius. If they could put a show together with primus, I would mortgage my house to see that.
