This is Tool at their most visceral and primal. Maynard had the voice of a God and Danny played with even more Raw Power. This is my favorite era

I wish there was a band that could come close to how vicious their old live set were. It's like instead of a big demon monster you get in metal and rock, tool is like a psychological shadow that lives in your skin. They capture creepy so well and it fucking HITS

@SupremeBuffalo - yes. this is how Maynard devours souls. He must focus on one at a time back in those days...now he's a level 80 soul master and can eat entire venues of souls at once. in 93 he had just gained the ability and was only lvl 11.

Lucky enough to have seen them play this in 2007 and 2009, Not lucky enough to have seen it in 93 or 94 because I was 3 living in New York. Sounded just as awesome tho. A bit less anger from Maynard throughout the song but at times when it was needed the emotion was there.

This show was played on my birthday Friday April 23, 1993. How do I know? I'm looking at my ticket stub. It says Tool - Manor Hotel Garden Pavilion. $12.50!!! The Scientology goons were preventing people from sitting on the many benches set among the gardens & wouldn't let people sit on the ground even! I find it hard to believe that the band didn't know they were playing there. 2 nites later they played strip bar Califonia Dreams in Anaheim for $8.00!!! The band killed that night.
