This version reflects the lyric content. A relationship that is toxic and always chaotic. But, in certain ways, its the most important and beautiful thing that the subject has ever experienced. It could mean a romantic relationship, a friendship, a family member, anyone. I think, at some point, we can all relate to this song. On top of it, the sound floors you. My favorite live song of all time.

I was going to comment as you said in a previous video that no one comments. Dang! it looks like everyone's commenting now, good. I have to congratulate you on knowing meter and being able to count. During the first video I watched of you reacting to a Tool video (I forget which one) you immediately said it was in 5/8. My ears perked up and I sat up a little straighter. Wow! Someone who can count! Woohoo! I recommend King Crimson , maybe, they're kind of the granddaddy to Tool and many other progressive bands (Larks Tongues In Aspic III, Thrak, Sleepless, or Frame By Frame). They often do meter, sometimes layer 2 meters over each other. Any Rush, S.O.A.D., Jinjer, Bruford (old fusion group), Morgen Argen (TRUM TV, I can't recommend this enough!), Zappa (duh), and Alan Holdsworth, geez! I've rambled. There's tons of others, I'd better stop. Sorry for the novelette. Keep up the great work!

One of my favorite songs by them. Hear this interpretation in San Antonio, Texas, Sunken Meadow Gardens. It was a full moon that night and it was the best concert I’ve ever been to. There are live bands and studio bands, TOOL is both. Every sound you hear on the album they do in concert, I was even amazed to find out that some of the stranger sounds I’d heard was Maynard’s voice, overall, his voice is an instrument and it adds depth to the band as a whole. TOOL has helped me overcome some of those low points

Tool kind a sets a high bar. Which pretty much makes 95% of music redundant/unlistenable. Bands that meet and more importantly strive to reach that bar are few and far between. Opeth is one of those few. There a swedish progressive metal band there 1st nine albums are front to back masterpieces likes tools albums are you should check out a fair judgment and lepers affinity. Pearl jam is another, do the evolution or state of love and trust is a good place to start Ghost is a newer band that has really impressed check out year zero or ghost hammer Rush just might be the best pound for pound band ever any song from them is a treat especially when you realize there only 3 people in the band System of a down is outstanding any song by them is great Just to name a few

You caught on to one aspect I really never picked up on, put finger on my trigger, the murder/suicide aspect... never really explored that about it, thank you for that, truly. Well... the song seems to be about pressure, about the pressure of old expectation versus who you think you are becoming and how that is juxtaposed between normative dichotomization (SP?) aspects of remorse and rebirth. Not that it is deep, accepting the the expectations of the listener. Basically, the past always comes back to be in our faces, and while we tend to and curtail ourselves towards introspection as a way to distance ourselves from the past behaviours, partners and choices relegated to experienced existence, that past that led us here DOES NOT DIE... It fights to be recognized by the ID, while suffering the ego to let itself feel fulfilled. Do you murder the past to silence it constant battering of the present, or understand that it will always love, though it tears your heart away? IS the past even worthy of a glorious death? Does it matter? Put your finger on my trigger.... and yet.... I still love you, I still love you... Sorry, quite a tangent, but you asked...

A couple of things AP, definitely look more into Danny Carey. I am not even the type of person who listens to music for the drums, I love the guitar and bass the most, but I cant help be amazed by Danny everytime I listen. They dont call him the human octopus for nothing. Also I imagine this song to be an inner dialogue between his conscious and subconscious self, though it could also be a relationship with someone else too, though Tool lyrics are rarely about what they appear to be on the surface. I like that you stuck with Tool, I saw your first video on them (I think it was Lateralus) and I could tell that you weren't fully absorbing it be cause of how different it was. I agree though that you should do the research on Maynards mom and his history with religion before hitting up 10,000 days pt1 and pt2, it will reach you on a deeper level. Keep it up man!

I'm pretty sure the drummer uses electronic drum pads for some of his more eastern drum sounds, though I don't discount the possibility they had a guest percussionist this time. Looking to branch away from Tool? I know the perfect thing: Tigran Hamasyan performing Drip with the Berklee Middle Eastern Fusion Ensemble. It was my favorite thing from 2018. Absolutely CRAZY combination of metal and jazz. If you liked the tabla solo in this, wait until you see what Sarthak Mudgal does to a guitar. EDIT: On the hip hop side, seeing you react to Aesop Rock would be pretty hype. I assume you've already heard None Shall Pass and maybe stuff like Daylight/Nightlight. Maybe something off of Skelethon? Crows 1 would be cool. Might be my favorite Aes track. Kind of lyrically dense, make sure you have the lyrics pulled up in advance.
