People who are unfamiliar with quality bass usually have some shared assumptions, and these are the most common I see. Vv Click "SHOW MORE" vV

The "green line" subwoofer in the graphs:
sub101.link/PB-2000
All of my measurements were done from my main listening position after adjusting the subwoofer's level by ear, with the same volume level on the AVR. Graph smoothing is not something I'm normally a fan of, but I really think it helps to see the trend better in this case.
I realize some of the myths are redundant, and perhaps I should have consolidated. That said, these are what I seem to see the most often.
As I pointed out in the video, I think subwoofers are the best possible investment in your home theater. I would spend as much or more on subwoofers as my TV/Projector or AVR.
For example, if I was going to spend $1,500 on an AVR, I would have at least that much in good subs. The overall sound will be MUCH better than running a $1,500 AVR with $600 in subs. Much better! Don't neglect your bass!!
Another thing worth mentioning here is how often I hear people talking about how one sub will "crush" another, and usually it's based mostly on Max SPL. I've personally heard subs with higher Max SPL and wattage produce LESS overall bass due the shape of the curve. It's a helpful metric, but I personally look at the response shape first.
I like my bass deep, heavy, and well composed, but every subwoofer can only be turned up so much relative the the rest of the system, and how the response is shaped has a big impact on how deep and heavy it can get. Even within "The List", some have a deeper presentation than others.
"The List", ported subwoofers that go down to 20 hertz with real authority, rather than just making "detectable noise":

What did I miss? One I didn't cover was how it's only for the kids who like to bump in their cars. Even the people you would expect to HATE this kind of setup, with no interest in hearing it, end up impressed and wanting to hear more. I believe quality bass is for everyone, when it's done "right".

LG 4K 3D that I replaced previous Vizio with a Square Trade type warranty. Love the LG, some issues aside. Going through Amazon means you can get a decently priced 5 year warranty (strongly recommend for TV's and AVR's)
