just a note, bloodbloom's nerf had nothing to do with mechathun. it was nerfed because of darkest hour warlock

I really liked that interaction, considering sea giant is such an automatic inclusion for board-flooding decks, but doesn't exactly fit thematically with the boss. I like to imagine that Maexxna is either a tryhard, or just doesn't care enough about theming to not use such obvious synergy.

A quick note: Bloodbloom wasn't nerfed because of mecha'thun. Darkest Hour+Bloodbloom was the reason. The cheesy archetype was just simply too consistent at getting a full board of 8-10 cost minions at turn 4. Even in the early game, if you left 2 1 1 imps on the board, they became ragnaros, lich king, yshaarj, and whatever you want the next turn. The bloodbloom nerf killing the mecha'thun archetype was really just collateral damage. The deck was good at some point before the Bloodbloom nerf, but at the time we were living in the quest mage era ( which could kill you on turn 5-6 consistently, Mecha'Thun needed 10 turns minimum ), and after that we had the demon hunter/pirate warrior era which was too aggressive and the deck was simply not good enough at that point. The vul'jin deck wasn't too good either, lovers of the archetype were happy if it got tier 3 in a snapshot. That is, until Tamsin's Phylactery was printed, which revived the deck and it's tier 1-2 to this day. Tamsin's phylactery is the reason it's really good, because now even if you cheat the card out, it can't die as you give it's deathrattle to a 1 cost minion and then play cataclysm. You either eat it with mutanus or you cheat it AND transform it, no other way to disrupt the combo. The resilience is the key. At that point you just stuff the deck with removeal and card draw and you've got one of the most consistent and resilient combo/control decks of all time.

I'm surprised Yogg-Saron didn't make it at all, it might not the the most consistent card, but it had a good enough chance to steal wins that it even was used in tournaments, turning around a few unwinnable games on it's own. They even had to nerf it, so it wouldn't keep it's successful tournament results

Along this same vein, it'd be interesting what rank up as the best 9 mana cards. While "best/worst X mana cards" would get tired pretty fast, I think 9 is interesting since they're usually in a weird spot. Historically, 9 mana cards were hard to justify running since 9 mana doesn't leave a lot of room to play any other cards in any given turn, and being able to play it one turn earlier is negligible when it's so late in the game. If a 10 mana card nets you more value or does what you were trying to do with a 9 mana card slightly better, then it's better to play a 10 mana card than a 9 when you're gonna waste the mana anyways. Also, it'd be interesting to see the worst mana manipulation cards, i.e. cards that either give you more mana in a turn or reduce the cost of your cards. They're usually by default good, in the same way that card draw is by default good in yugioh, so it'd be interesting to see which were the most unplayable
