This video helped me order my EDC! I picked up the Kabar Dozier, I’m super picky and have watched so many KZitem videos trying to figure out which knife caught my eye, and when I saw the Kabar, I knew it was the one! Thanks for the video! Very helpful!

I've been watching your "best blank" and "...under blank dollars" videos. I enjoyed your others Zombie and bugging out as well. I agree there are a lot of great inexpensive knives. I purchased most of mine when they were reduced, marked down or priced as a clearance item and that's how I have acquired the number of blades I currently own. And I have a few used ones as well (Opinel #7). I have passed on only a few because they were not knives worth buying. I really didn't need it, but I picked up the Schrade SCH221BK because it has a 9Cr18Mov blade and was reduced to $9.00. Same for the CRKT Special Ops Hammond and Hammond Cruiser.

I have 5 of those knives mentioned, good video. I was really hoping you would mention the RAT, nice work. For my EDC blade I carry a Spyderco dragonfly2 in ZDP-189 but it's out of this price range (60$) I did get it for free so that helped. One blade you could have added is the Kershaw Shuffle, its got a few tools on it and its a sturdy knife. It's my EDC back up, or if I dont feel like dulling my main EDC blade.

They sell the Gerber paraframe knives at my two local sporting goods stores and the prices change constantly. Seems like they're always trying to sell get rid of them or induce customers to buy them. I can't really handle the smaller knives, but I do own the CRKT Folt designed Bowie Minimalist. It's my only neck knife and surprisingly easy to grip. And I have an Opinel (#8 - used) and it's comfortable to use and cuts like a scalpel.

You should check out the crkt edgie 1 and 2. I prefer the 2. They are $10-$15 on amazon. Self sharpening. Good edc. Boxes bag's, packages ect. Not a bushcraft or camp knife. My favorite inexpensive EDC knife is the Kershaw Skyline, but it sits outside your criteria in the video since it is around the $40 mark currently. Still, it is a lot of knife for $40. lol Out of the ones you mentioned though I would have to give a nod to the Oso Sweet. I have one and I really like it... not as much as my Skyline, but for $20 or so it is a hard knife to beat for quality and value for the money spent. I just don't care for the plastic handles, but it doesn't feel as cheap as some other FRN/Zytel handles I have felt on more expensive knives. I hate the handle on my Kershaw Whirlwind (and almost everything else about it)... that was $50 I feel would have been better spent elsewhere, like another Skyline or something like a RAT 1 or 2 (or both knowing me). lol

Hi, I bought a Kershaw Zing on sale for $20. I thought it was a good deal. I did notice that the handle seemed heavier than the blade. Is that acceptable or should they be equal weight? I am uncertain and so I ask. Thanks for sharing you ideas!
@benfelland
9 жыл бұрын
It is acceptable. The kershaw zing is a nice knife and any knife that has a metal handle is going to be heavier in the back because there is more material than up front in the blade. The first knife featured in this video, the kabar dozier is going to feel pretty equal weight wise. Because it is a plastic handle and so there will be very little noticeable difference.

I collect knives, mostly under $100. I have a few worth more. If I were forced into picking the best knife by price and value it would be the Ka-Bar Dozier. Ka-Bar hit a grand slam with this little knife. A $20 knife that does everything well. There is a large selection of colors and even a Mini Dozier. You can’t go wrong. You can spend more money but then you are only being a knife snob.

Holy crap! That sounds like quite a cut. I cut myself more frequently than I'd like to admit but there was this one time... I had a knife clamped in my Wicked Edge and I reached over the top of it to grab a different stone and I accidentally ran the heel of my had across the blade. I think the worst part was that I had just finished with the 100 grit and the blade was really rough with micro serrations. I'd much rather have a cut from a sharp blade. They seem to heal so much quicker.
