One of my favourite movies of 2019 was Rocketman. I don't know why Bohemian Rhapsody was such a talked about movie and Rocketman wasn't. I'm a much bigger fan of Queen, than Elton, but Rhapsody seemed way too polished. And Rocketman on the other hand felt much more honest, which I truly love. I saw 1917 three times on the big screen and I personally got a lot out of each experience. First time - yes, it was completely immersive and suprising and heartbreaking and I came out immediately wanting to see it again. On the second watch I appreciated the first twenty minutes a lot more. Because I knew just how far the story had to go and how much happens and still Sam Mendez took the time he needed in the beginning. It doesn't feel rushed, it doesn't feel hectic. It feels just right. And even though I knew the story, most moments still got me. I had the same anxiety in the trench and the same heart-wrenching feeling at the barn and the same level of exhaustion in the water. Which makes the film even more impressive for me. I just love the flow and rythm of it so, so much. And yeah, the third time was basically just to show it to a friend, but I still loved every second and was finally ready to fully appreciate all the skill that had to go into it behind the scenes. Oh and Parasite .. first film in a long time where I actually caught myself sitting there with my mouth literally open. Credits came and I just sat there being like "What the? ... but then .. what.. why did.. fucking hell ... WHAT?" I absolutely loved it!

I loved 1917 as an aspiring actor/director in Highschool and a history buff. The story makes so much sense with the encorporation of other details like Runners. The fact that the story was inspired by Alfred Mendes, the grandfather of director, just gives it a more realistic approach to a war that was already so real.

"a perfect sunday afternoon film" bro is ur perfect sunday afternoon bawling ur eyes out for over an hour while you mourn the experience of childhood or something?? bc i need a days worth of mental preparation before i rewatch Greta Gerwig's adaptation. god she's an absolute fucking GENIUS and all of the main actors' performances broke my heart, idk what anyone says about this movie i love it to bits. (the scene where jo is standing above the bridge before tearing up the letter and there's no music in the background and it just silently cuts to this bright, warm memory of her and laurie laughing together before silently cutting back to jo, broken and unsure about her life, before she lets the bits of paper go into the river and you understand that childhood is finally and truly over for her. yeah that broke me.)

I too loved Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, And I would 100% agree with needing to know even basic knowledge about the Manson Murders. For example, A friend of mine watched it and absolutely hated it yet he had no idea it was very roughly based around true events, I told him a basic summary of it, he rewatched it and actually ended up liking it way more. It’s not a huge plot to it but the ending is way more impactful when you know the details like I cried so much cause it was so genuinely nice. And I do believe a lot of people didn’t like it cause it wasn’t very Tarantino which I would agree that it’s not, But it’s a different pace and Lord did he take us to the 60’s.
