Dream Street didn't make the big time, but a scandal literally broke up the band. The parents of 4 members sued management accusing them of exposing the boys to alcohol and pornography. I didn't find out until years later that the allegations were found to be false in the courts, but the band still broke up. Only Chris Trousdale stayed with them, but he ultimately left because the record company wanted him to be part of a new Dream Street and he was only interested in a solo career. A solo career that sadly never came to fruition. No chairs turned for him when he auditioned for The Voice and he passed away from covid in 2020. Jesse McCartney has enjoyed a moderate solo career since the breakup (and did really well on The Masked Singer), Greg Raposo still does music with his band, but the others have since chosen other careers

While I get that Seungri was the face of the Burning Sun scandal, since it was his club and he was the most well known Korean celebrity in the investigation, I feel like we need to add the other Kpop members that were a part of it too as they did participate in the crimes of that club. Seungri's trial took awhile before he was charged with anything, mainly taking a plea deal for a lesser jail time (mainly for tax fraud and gambling, but they added some charges for him to admit to for that plea deal). But then you have Jung Joon-Young (from the band Drug Restaurant) who was charged for a*****ting ten different women, some of who were unconscious, and sharing footage of it. Choi Jong-hoon (from FT. Island) was sentenced for participating in gang r*** at the club. Lee Jong-hyun (from CNBlue) was included in all this, because he was interacting with the unsolicited photos and videos in the group chat that was used in the scandal. Burning Sun didn't just affect the group Bigbang, but these other groups too. Definitely a heavy scandal within the kpop industry
@deedeeschway9566
Жыл бұрын
Actually Burning Sun was 3 separate scandals rolled into one. Burning Sun itself was blown up due to false allegations by a guy who has since been convicted of harassment himself and by rumours spread on the net. The worst they found at the club was some embezzlement and personal drug stashes by a couple of employees. Seungri was only a 8% investor with no direct control of the club. It was the reporter who had the molka chat logs for years who allowed people to assume that Seungri was in the chats to tie them to Burning Sun since he was the celebrity face of the club. They also brought up the actress’ suicide as it resonated with the celebrity world and abuse of women. Ms Mojo should do better research as the Buzzfeed video about these scandals is so badly done and full of misinformation. The creator Aria did such a lousy job of covering the molka problem in South Korea. He tied together so many different scandals and false allegations yet he denies he was wrong about any of it.

I really feel sorry for what Michael and his siblings went through going up with their father joe
@crystalsnow1138

I could be wrong but Michael seemed the most resentful about the "discipline" he received as a child. His brothers and sisters have talked about it and said that it was normal and they were grateful for being raised that way because they would probably be dead or in jail otherwise. There was a sadness in Michael's eyes every time he talked about his childhood and his father even though he loved him. I truly think Michael Jackson wanted more than anything was validation from his father which he probably never got. Heck Joe Jackson wouldn't even let his own kids call him dad, they had to call him Joseph. And that's why I would never lay a hand on my child, you never know the psychological damage that could come from it.

Although the guy's experience sounded awful, having Elton John as a bit of a mentor would be pretty epic. And I will never understand why strangers stick their noses in other people's sex lives. That's one of the biggest issues that made me leave religion. Whether or not I have sex is not some old fart's concern, and the fact that a bunch of old people care whether or not teenagers that aren't their own children are having sex, is fucking creepy. British boy band East 17’s scandal should be on this list too, I remember reading about the drug scandal surrounding the group co-lead singer Brian Harvey. I and many people found it very shocking till this day, it’s shocking then and it’s shocking now, it was a very irresponsible and dangerous thing to say. In January 1997, Brian Harvey claimed that he had taken ecstasy pills stating in the press that "It's cool to take drugs" and claiming that ecstasy "can make you a better person" (ecstasy was a very sensitive topic in the 90s due to moral panic of many young people taking the drug and dying from it, making headlines.) after that the band career mainly flatlined, Brian Harvey has since been involved in many controversial in recent years such as publicly destroying his platinum discs on the street in front of onlookers and filming himself doing this and putting it on his KZitem channel, arrested for harassing his ex girlfriend in 2021 (a famous British soap actress he dated in 90s.) and I heard he livestream himself self harming or about to commit self harm on himself on his KZitem channel.

BTS scandals- 1) Saejagi (2015-16) : Proved to be only Other Kpop companies mediaplay because BTS started outselling big groups from BIG3 in South Korea which was impossible for a group like BTS that came from a Broke ass company. 2) 2016 Daesang rigged allegations: Another Scandal started by Exols (EXO fandom) where they filed petition to Blue House to disband BTS because BTS won their First Daesang(Main prize) against their favs who was the biggest boygroup back then. But The award Organization Melon declined the allegations proving them wrong. 3) Plaigarism(2014-15): Another Mediaplay done by Kpop companies of Big3 based on Hair colour, clothes, sitting, breathing, sleeping etc. 4) Jimin Tshirt (2018): Japanese nazi organization started attacking the band in 2018 because of a Shirt BTS member Jimin wore which was given by their fans on Korean liberation day. Kpop fandoms started to put oil onto fire (exposed by Japanese media that Kpop fandom exols, blinks etc tipped off J-media to bash BTS). BTS fandom ARMY made a White Paper project in different languages to educate people on the issue. The hate bandwagon was put into an end and ever since that incident BTS went into become THE biggest Act in Japan bringing in the most revenue for Japanese music industry. 5) RM misogynistic lyrics in War of Hormone (2014)- He reflected on his actions and since the issue he always asked opinions of Woman educators/professors to educate himself.. Later speak on International Television in front of his own president about the issue. He was also Blacklisted by a Big Misogynistic Organization as he is a popular figure who is a Feminist. 6) Am I wrong & Spring day(2016-17) - BTS made songs against the government multiple times. They sang the song Am I wrong in front of the officials when there was a Big ban for Pop acts or commerners to riot about anything. I think these were the biggest events that nearly cost their career.

Reading this made me realise that how much our boys have gone through.. the kpop industry did everything to destroy them but BTS succeeded at the end & outsold every grp in that industry

the way grown adults were talking extensively about 3 young boys in their teens/barely early 20s and their private lives is SO WEIRD like young artists can’t do anything right they’re either ridiculed for being “too clean” or scrutinized if they “act out”

The girls aloud stuff is rubbish,they got on they were a band for 10years and were planning a 20year old tour,but Sarah got cancer and spread all through her body,they all got on and yeah Kim,nic and Cheryl went out more on their own and Sarah and nadine went out on their own on nights out and sometimes together,they were British ambassadors for UK 🇬🇧 to China,also yes Cheryl did her time but the albums on solo was on a little bit of a break and they had plans for their 10th anniversary well before that break,they never split.they are brilliant and also need a return as a 4 now.I’m a major massive fan of girls aloud and Sugababes,they had more scandals than any other girl groups x😊

I'm a little surprised Hanson isn't on here (not sure if everyone considers them a boy band, but they were basically the Jonas Brothers for millennials). They've lost a lot of fans because of Zac's racist and homo/transphobic views.

The kpop group B.A.P was extremely underpaid and essentially used by their label, that's a very underrated scandal. A more known one was what happened with Seungri in Bigbang

Also, when it comes to people who were obsessed with the Jonas Brothers purity rings, are the same people that were obsessed with Britney Spears being an virgin
