1. let's face it: i think we all KNOW what song was gonna be 1# 2. she is TRULY underrated especially in comparison to Whitney and Mariah. She's always overlooked and doesn't get the recognition and acknowledgment that she deserves 3. Man she is REALLY beautiful!

I think people say Mariah is better because she wrote all of her songs and her vocal range is just bigger than Celine’s and Whitney’s (whistle) it’s stupid to compare them tho, they’re called the trinity for a reason

Rebekah Artman and that is your opinion sweetie! Fact wise Mariah is a better vocalist, write her entire discovery and helped producing every one of them Mariah is a legendary artist not just a singer
@tristanhnl
4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the only people who underrate Celine are those who don't know that much about vocal technique and oooh and aaah over things like Mariah's range, and forget that singing encompasses so much more. I'm saying this as an operatically trained baritone who has listened to all 3 singers since the 90's. Mariah has the larger range for sure, but Celine is no less talented as a vocalist, and there are some areas in which Celine is even better than Mariah. This includes Celine's fioritura technique, the ability to sing with agility, incredibly fast runs and scales while making every single note heard and distinct. There was one time I heard Celine doing for fun a Rossini aria during her warm-up, going up and down the scales with amazing accuracy and speed. She just floored everyone in the room. Mariah's voice has a very smooth quality that lends itself to great legato, but not to fioritura. That's one area Celine beats Mariah, and by a wide margin. That's the way it works for some opera singers too. They're all expected to be able to move the voice quickly, to some degree, but some have the natural aptitude for it due to their tonal profile and vibrato, while others struggle with it. When a legendary opera singer like Placido Domingo says that Celine has the talent to sing opera, then you know that type of talent is legit. My point is, all 3 singers in the so-called vocal trinity have their pluses and minuses. They're all incredibly talented vocalists, and usually the most vociferous fans who keep saying one is better than the other, don't know much about vocal technique, or they're completely ignorant to what the "lesser" singer can actually do, and have done in performance.

@tristanhnl
4 жыл бұрын
It's true that Celine didn't like the song at first and thought it wouldn't do well. That's because James Horner played the song on the piano and tried to sing the song himself and everyone in the room thought he sounded horrible. He's a gifted composer for sure, but an atrocious singer. So Rene told him, you're not helping things at all. Let's have Celine perform just one time as a demo, and let's go from there. So while Celine didn't like the song at first, the actual reason it was recorded in one take, was because that was all that was needed to get it perfect. As she was singing it, everyone in the studio, including the producers, composer, Rene, and Tommy Mottola (president of the recording company) all knew they were witnessing a hit and a classic being recorded. Celine's demo was so perfect, it became the recording used in the Titanic soundtrack and on Celine's Let's Talk About Love album. It's also worth noting, by the time Celine actually recorded the demo in the studio, she had grown to love it, because she was shown the movie and understood the mood and meaning behind it. And while James Cameron didn't want a song in the film, it took him only one listen of Celine's demo to change his mind.

Only the movie version (the one played during the credits) was done in one take. The radio version (the one that won Celine a Grammy and Oscar ) was done multiple times. And the reason she did the movie version in only one take was because the ones who wrote the song said they didn’t need to record it again because she sounded so good.

Some additional honorable mentions that deserve recognition: 1.) "How Does A Moment Last Forever" from "Beauty and the Beast" (2017). Celine goes back to her roots in this song from the live-action remake of the animated classic. Already having made herself a household name with the original title song from the animated "Beauty and the Beast" with the fantastic Peabo Bryson, Celine shows that she's still got the voice of an angel with this haunting ballad about holding on to life's precious moments, and how those moments can see us through even the darkest of times. 2.) "Then You Look At Me" from "Bicentennial Man" (2000). A severely underrated song from a severely underrated Robin WIlliams film, and written by the same team that gave us "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic": James Horner & Will Jennings. This is another well-crafted ballad about life and love and is definitely worth a listen! 3.) "The Prayer" from "Quest For Camelot" (1998). Probably the most well-remembered song from this animated flop which tried to cash in on Disney's animated renaissance of the 1990's, it was performed by Celine alone in the animated film, but recorded as a duet with Andrea Bocelli for her Christmas album "These Are Special Times" where it drew great acclaim. Nominated for an Oscar, this song has been covered multiple times, most famously by Jessica Sanchez during her time on "American Idol". Another powerful song about faith in oneself, and the belief that in time life can change for the better.

My dad loved her music and he introduced me to Celine Dion's music back when I was growing up. But sadly my father died 14 years ago and I miss him a lot. But the weirder part is that I've found that Celine Dion is related to both of my French Canadian parents. Celine has been traced as my 8th cousin as the closest cousinship of one of the common ancestors that Celine Dion and I share. But Celine Dion actually shares about 12 or 13 most common ancestors within our family trees.

Interestingly, Celine Dion won her only vocal performance Grammy for the song 'My heart will go on'. For such an amazing vocalist, the only explanation possible is that this is probably one of those few hits where she doesn't over do it. I've always thought the song builds up well vocally and finally Celine gets to be Celine at the end. Throughout the song she shows restraint, tenderness, sadness, hope, and of course technical skills.

Sure she nailed many songs in English and had great success but her French songs are even more moving, such as 's'il suffisait d'aimer' or 'pour que tu m'aimes encore' and the duet with Garou. When it comes to English songs then you definetely missed 'think twice', it was her first UK number one and her high pitch was fabulous.

Her best songs in my opinion are the French ones, but for an English list I wish they would've looked more into her repertoire instead of just the ones everyone knows: With This Tear, Think Twice, Nothing Broken but my Heart. Goodbye's, Live for the One I Love are all top notch and some of my favorite Celine English songs!

"To Love You More" is one of my personal favorites, but "My Heart Will Go On" will always hold a special place in my heart as I danced with my dad at my parents' 50th anniversary to that song...and I sang along. It was the first time I ever sang directly to my father, or danced with him.

The list is quite dubious. I know Think twice was a flop in the USA but it's probably her biggest hit in UK and it was massive in Europe. If you asked me to was a big hit (bigger than half the songs on the list)
