I cannot tell you how many times I have had to tell people to NEVER house two males together, or males and females together. And on a Facebook group I follow, I posted a picture joking around saying that my one leopard gecko nips me occasionally, but takes adorable photos. It is just his personality, he has always been a bit...difficult when it comes to that. Some said, "you should put him in with one of your females". WHAT!? How is that going to solve anything?! Answer, it would create more problems...obviously. I don't have the money to save them if they get into a fight, nor do I have the time, energy or money to deal with the eggs when they ultimately do end up breeding. Not to mention the stress the male could put onto the female would essentially cause her to die. And on the note of Petco, I feel like they need to retake every year of high school biology to be qualified to sell any reptiles, or just all the animals in general.
@alysani0193
5 жыл бұрын
Ah yes because when an animals personality has the trait of nipping you occasionally that means it need to be in with the opposite sex because all of us have the means to care for gecko eggs, babies and find good homes for them!... what the actual fuck.

@Cordelia_Crypt
3 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is from two years ago but I’m replying anyways lol. I’ve seen a lot of people especially on TikTok who claim that it’s okay to house beardies together and it makes me feel so bad for the lizards. Even females that can possibly get along shouldn’t be put together Bc they’re solitary reptiles and it could cause so many problems even if it takes a while. Every time I say something about the housing of beardies together the owner will reply basically attacking me and telling me that I’m wrong, the lizards love each other, they get along just fine, they’ve never had problems etc. and it saddens me to see that so many people probably watch those videos and think it’s actually okay to keep them together. Even if nothing has happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future and I’ll never understand why they’d even want to take those risks instead of just getting one beardie or getting separate enclosures if they really want two or more :(

(Matter has been fixed) THIS IS URGENT! EVERYONE PLEASE LIKE THIS COMMENT SO THE CREATOR CAN SEE THIS! About a month ago my Female Leo called angel done something to her back right leg (birds eye view) and for the first few weeks she was limping and not walking on it. Every time it touched the ground it would shake and she would retract it in pain. I think she may have dislocated it as when I look at the belly side of it there is a lump which is red and swollen. It's right at the joint part of the leg where it connects to her body. I can pop it back in but it just pops back out I'm not doing it anymore as it may cause more problems. I don't know what to do. I've contacted my local supplier and I've had no reply so this community is my last hope! I think she pulled it out when she had a bad shed and now it's not getting better! Please help! Many thanks. Edit: I have written an update in the comments after 2 years :)

I was actually worried about it, but I watched videos of LGs with Enigma, and I don't think she has it. If she does have it, then its very mild. Nothing too odd other than the stargazing and some weird head action, although that might just enjoy rubbing her nose on the glass. But I've seen way weirder behaviour on the internet... From humans... Humans are weird beings.

I live in Scotland were its extremely cold most of the year, I have been using your channel as a source a lot and I know your views on lights. But to keep the tank warm during winter would it be best to resort to a light?
@czexotics7451
7 жыл бұрын
Its not a terrible idea to have a secondary heat source like a light, I prefer CHE's (Ceramic heat emitters) because they produce no light, so you can just keep it on all day/ night and it wont disturb their sleep. Just make sure you maintain a temperature gradient in your tank, and make sure it doesn't get over 90 degrees. Hope this helped!

I use a black light for my baby, it's not too harsh like a white or yellow bulb, I've read that the red bulbs can make them go blind cause they'll spend too much time looking at it. I strongly recommend separating them ASAP. They’re solitary animals and don’t benefit at all. It’s very stressful for them, even if it isn’t noticeable. Gender doesn’t matter. I’ve seen countless cases of geckos seeming fine for years, then snapping and seriously injuring or killing each other. Not worth the risks at all. Here’s an article written by someone who had two females together for a few years before they fought, which I strongly recommend reading: aminoapps.com/c/reptiles/page/item/cohabiting-leopard-geckos/D8Qg_QpxUNIM8BDlKwQwYGZQzgrJ3Q1WWV8 And here are some of the many cases I’ve seen of cohabitation going wrong: imgur.com/a/3mRE7qj

All geckos have to get used to their new surroundings once they've moved in, and they display many behaviors while doing so. One of which, is not eating. It can take more than a few weeks before they start eating. I have the same problem, my gecko has only been around for about 1 week already, and has only eaten about 3 or 4 crickets, when he really has supposed to have eaten about 30 or so. My gecko has just started eating a bit more frequently, and yours should do the same soon.

Geckos can do that when you first get them. First of all, they're in a brand new place entirely! Nothing is the same. What might happen as well is wherever you got him from may have fed him something else that he's more used to. Try to give him lots of variety, and get him into other things. Feed waxworms *EXTREMELY* sparingly, as they can get addictive and he'll refuse anything else.

Chinob I've got a 20 gallon (About 30in long, 11in tall, and 11 wide) tank and I use a 12 by 8 ZooMed heat mat for it. However, my tank may be different than yours. You can of course get other brands of heat mat and for the sizing you'll want to get one that's about half the size of the tank so you'll have a nice warm side with your warm hide on it. Some heat mats can be mounted on the side of the tank. Hope this helps!

I just came across this comment but I just wanted to let you know that the top recommendations for substrate is actually just reptile carpet or paper towels instead of dirt (unless it’s a bio active enclosure). I personally don’t use reptile carpet for any of my reptiles Bc they hold a lot of bacteria but going forwards paper towels are definitely the best thing to use for the floor. The heat from heat mat gets through super well, you can change it every day to keep the cage super clean since Leo’s are highly susceptible to mouth rot if the cage isn’t clean, it’s definitely cheaper than going to buy eco earth every few weeks, if ur Leo eats too much of the dirt it could cause impaction which would require a vet visit that definitely wouldn’t be cheap, insects can’t burrow under it like they can in dirt etc. I hope this helps if u still have the little guy which I’m figuring you do Bc this comment was from 3 years ago and they can live for like 20 years lol :)

i have to reach from the top. my solution to spookings? look at them through the front for a little bit THEN pick em up so they know YOURE picking them up and not a predator. (Im not a pro thats just how i do it might not work for you. im not a professonial just an average owner

I love your channel but you shouldn't encourage people to buy from stores like petco and petsmart being a reptile owner yourself. Disappointed.

My gecko changes from green to yellow a lot. Also right around his eyes are blue. Is this normal? I was told he was an albino, but it’s pretty obvious he’s not by just looking at him.

7:10 on the subject of cohabbing females: my dad used to cohab his two females, and they never fought and both ate enough, but once one of them passed the other immediately got so much more happy and lively than id wver seen her TLDR: sometimes you can cohab 2 females without incident, but they will be happier and more likely to interact with you if they live alone

At petco I saw that there was a bunch of geckos in one medium sized tank, surprisingly they were all friendly though they did like to pile up on top of each other when drinking water😂

I have to laugh I went into pet smart the other day to ask about there geckos and they had a regular leopard advertised for 79.99 when I asked they called it a jumbo gecko and she said to me it was actually 139.00 and argued that no it was a jumbo and that the fancy leopard geckos where going for 79.99 I turned around and walked out 🤦♂️

Actually both leopard geckos and crested geckos can drop their tails. Maybe you are thinking because leopard geckos can grow back their tails but crested geckos cannot?

Q:if I do get leopard geckos can I only feed it worm type things like meal worms, horn worms, wax worms, and butter worms? I am not afraid of worms but I am afraid of crickets. Worms I find to be way slower and defenseless.

How can I feed my baby Leo mealworms? He only eats crickets and every time I tried to feed him, he would turn away. I tried using tongs, and hand feeding but it didn't work.

My new Leo Apollo is always behind this piece of driftwood that’s not even supposed to be a hide! It’s also apparently a tunnel: it was the cutest thing ever when he stuck his little head out of the other end! So cute! Apollo is a male one month old sunglow. He’s beautiful!!!

question so is it bad to just hang out with your leopard gecko? my little brother got one then was gifted another one with the tank we bought from a friend so I own the first one and at night I turn off all my fans and just let him hang out for about 30 minutes. is this a bad thing to do or is it good? also, is it bad to take them in as a little pouch and go for a walk? i live in Arizona and Idk if this would be a good idea or not? (also no they arent in the same tank I'm going to save money to get the baby who is in a 10 gallon a 20 gallon tank) Thanks So Much!!!!

My only problem with this video is the housing leopard geckos together thing. Even two females shouldn’t be housed together. You’d have to monitor them to make sure they’re both eating enough, not fighting over space or food, if one of them ended up sick the other one would get sick as well Bc they’re caged together. If you happen to see runny stool in the cage you wouldn’t know which one it was from and you’d have to separate them in different enclosures to find out anyways which could cause stress to whichever one is moved. I just feel like the best advice here would be to not house leopard geckos together in the first place regardless of age or gender. I’m not trying be rude or anything like that more of just some constructive criticism and to let people know that there are quite a few risks that could come about with housing leo’s together and to say it would be much easier to just have one per enclosure :)

Okay so I tried to send you a message but I just can't find anything so I'm gonna ask it here. I've got my gecko's for half a year now, and they were both eating just fine, they both had nice large tails, but lately i realized one of them isn't eating, her tail is like a stick. I see her trying to but she just can't catch the crickets....any advice of what I can do?

What does it mean if my gecko just keeps on laying out in the Open instead of in the moist Hide the coldhearted and the basking area
@cassieacosta9523
7 жыл бұрын
You shouldnt have a basking area it should be a hide with a heat mat under neath, she can be looking for heat without getting burned on her back or she could just like the temperature more in the open or shes really brave and likes be out in the open
