Back in the 1960s there was a chain of department stores called TSS: Times Square Stores. I used to go to one in East New York, Brooklyn. There were maybe about 18(?) stores. Wondered whatever became of them.

They went bankrupt in 1989. One near me became an Alexander's, which closed after their chain ended. Then it became a K-Mart until they closed most of their stores.

Always fascinated by your videos. Have you ever done one about Stix Baer & Fuller? Grew up in St Louis and was fortunate enough to have visited some truly great department stores in the 50s and 60s and actually worked for Famous Barr downtown for a time after high school.

Yes I have, I will be adding that Chain to a future video. I did go over some of the Federated and May Stores that got converted to Macy's. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sZeGvpyukKaUaqg. My colleague did a video on Famous Barr as well 😁 Check him out: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yHx9z62HkIJ1po4

My sister used to work at Parisian’s and when it changed to over Carson’s, it sucked. It went from a nice department store to a disheveled TJ Maxx. I wasn’t as familiar with Younkers until right before it closed out in Jackson MI. Seemed like a good store.

Oh wow! Looks like they took away the “upscale ambiance” once it switched over to Carson’s 😭.

Have you heard about Topps? Topps was a department store owned by Interstate Department Stores. All of it stores were converted to Toys "R" Us stores because Toys "R" Us aqquired Interstate Department Store.

Oh let’s go here come the Bon Ton stores yaaaayy!!! They said they were going to revive the brands this year. But the only thing that happened was Bon Ton website opened. None of the other stores got there online revival yet, it’s only Bon Ton. They also mentioned that a Carson’s would open a location in Febuary 2023. and a Younkers would open a location sometime this summer, but obviously this hasn’t happened which makes me believe that it was all a hoax. Also I saw the Parisian logo in the corner of the thumbnail even though u already shown it in another video maybe there’s an update on that brand too. Also when BrandX bought Bon Ton it also bought the Stage Stores too such as - Stage Stores - Bealls - Palais Royal - Gordmans - Goodys - Peebles They said these brands would get revived too but like Bon Ton it never happened I can’t wait until your next news video about stores maybe there will be a revival of a long lost store one day.

Yeah the Stage Stores all closed in 2020, also with Bealls not be confused with Bealls Outlet Stores. I’m talking about Bealls (Texas) which closed in 2020 along with other brands I listed. They all got bought by brandX but yet a revival is still unknown sadly.

Very informative but I couldn’t get over hearing the Lincoln state called IllinoiS. The S in Illinois has always been silent. Same with that city in Indiana; it’s pronounced Terra Haute - like “hote” or haute couture. It’s Not Terra Hoot.

Good video but I can't get over your pronunciation of Lancaster. It's Lan-Kiss-Stur.
@KatClem46

I checked the comments here to see if someone mentioned the mis-pronunciation of "Lancaster." It drives me crazy! Lol. But, I guess when people not from the area or those unfamiliar with Lancaster, PA think it's pronounced like "Burt Lancaster." At least that's what I've always assumed. But I wish they would just stop already! 😄
