Your woodland tree has inspired me! Several years ago I wrote a book about my family legacy at the Grand Canyon. I am going to use diary entries, some over 115 years old, vintage photos of rustic life at the canyon, I even have one of my grandfather-in-law and a Kolb brother camped at rivers edge with a Merry Christmas sign 1911 tucked in the rocks behind them..How delightful...nature, history and most of all family from long ago!! Thanks for the little push!

Sherry! What lovely trees! Since I am in an apartment I have opted for a smaller tree and change themes as well. One thing I did after my father passed away was to take all of his bow ties, cut them into strips and make small Christmas tree ornaments out of them. Also I took a couple of his favorite ties and just hung them on the tree. For other non traditional things I also used my kids first baby shoes and the collars or tags from my special pets that are no longer here. (Either putting the tags in a larger plastic ornament or just hanging them with a ribbon. We even had raised a Canadian goose baby (and we were able to successfully let him go) but I collected several of his feathers and put them in a clear ornament as well. (I know kinda weird, but it was a nice way to remember him.). 😊. 😊

I love them both. I have done a white tree with the same color theme with blue, white and silver, however since I live in North Texas (outside Dallas city limits) it would get confused for a Dallas Cowboy tree which it was most certainly not. I would have to explain it was a winter wonderland tree. I haven't put up a tree in a few years due to circumstances however I decided that since my circumstances are different now I might try and get one up this year and oddly enough a few months ago when I thought about it I thought a woodland tree would be my new theme. It's just so ironic now seeing this video. I absolutely love the ornaments made out of wood slices. I have 25 acres with an over abundance of cedar trees and this summer we trimmed up some and we still have some of what was cut on the ground so I am definitely going to make ornaments similar to yours along with also adding back and white pictures of my grandchildren on them as well to personalize them.

If someone Made me pick, I'd choose the Scottish Woodland tree but I Love the decoupage ornaments you made for the Frozen Lake tree as well. Another TIP for winter wonderland decor, that I use, is spray adhesive and EPSOM SALTS. I spray the adhesive onto Pine and Cedar branches from my yard and then sprinkle on the Epsom Salts, it gives an immediate ice crystal effect. I've used it on pine cones, wreaths and all kinds of things.

I love the traditional Scottish tree since I am both of those! lol I still have a decoration that my sister made for me 42 years ago. She blew out an eggshell, cut the Garfield character from one of her Garfield cartoon books, and the words Merry Christmas. She used mod podge to attach them to the eggshell and mod podged it again and then sprinkled white sparkly snow on it. It has had a very special place on the top few branches of every Christmas tree since 1980.

Hi Sherry, My favorite is the Scottish woodland tree but , I myself have always wanted a silver and blue tree. I believe this will be the first time ever in my life I will not put up a tree. In October 2000 I left an abusive relationship and had to quickly get an apartment and because of a low salary I had to put 3 months rent down. That Christmas I literally made every single gift and I we t to a park and collected branches long wispy ones . I had gold spray paint on hand and sprayed them I stuck them into a nice clear vase packed with quilter's pollyfill I had on hand and on top of the pollyfill had mini pinecones. I hung light weight ornaments. I may do that this year too. In years past I lived with my mom and we had a live tree and even last year my first year without my .om, but still in her house, I had a certain pine my mom loved but, the name escapes me. The flat I am in now is 610 SQ FT and it's just so very tiny. I inherited all my mind furniture which are all large pieces and I am overwhelmed here just with everyday life. Most everything I own is in storage or are boxed up still in my living room. The framed painting of Mary and baby Jesus is called Mother Of The Streets. I use to work PT at a funeral home and they are one of our prayer cards. My mom had a large print of that in an oval gold frame. Years ago in Better Homes and Gardens they had in the Christmas issue large apothecary jars, large round wide bowls such as you have and trifle bowls with woodland decorations inside. My mom took a fancy with the trifle bowl one with a nest inside and Christmas tree branches around the best. I had rec'd a nice trifle bowl as an engagement gift (never married) and I never used it. I had a nest I found on hand and the bird had weaved they the sticks cigarette butt into the sticks. At a craft store called Total Crafts I bought faux pine springs and my mom loved the Gold Finch so I bought a mini one to hook onto the pine. I had a couple of pine cones in it too. I had always stayed with my mom Christmas Eve and she was always in bed early. While she was sleeping I tiptoed to the living room and put my arrangement on the one end. Christmas morning when she came out of her bedroom until the living room she saw it right away and she loved it. I have had it in my since I relocated but before Christmas I will put it in the living room. I think I will put it on the dining room table with a small string of lights around the base. I shall close. I have to get up at 5:30 and finish my kitchen cleaning for my apartment inspection tomorrow. I love all your creations! Fondly, Rebekah
