Great video Lee! I specifically really liked the idea of Last House On The Left being a metaphor for Vietnam, where normal everyday people are forced to be barbaric. I never thought of it that way! Kinda opened my eyes to something I never caught. The red balloons of IT being warnings of doom, reminds me a lot of the color orange referencing who's the Rat in Reservoir Dogs, including even an orange balloon following behind a Nice Guy Eddie's car at one point

I personally loved the fact that Jamie Lee's improvised song from the first Halloween got turned into an actual song in Halloween 2018, which is heard both in the credits and in the scene of the father and son driving just before they find the bus. My favorite is probably the commentary on post-idealism America in the 1979 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, where people are slowly replaced by soulless yuppies and nobody notices.

At first viewing, I don't always look for symbolism in media / movies but I do analyze characters, the storylines, and a few other factors. I think your movie reviews and a few other similar channels analyze and summerize movies better than I ever did. The symbolism you found in this list was impressive, including the hidden meanings of Silence of the Lambs, which made perfect sense. I do often wonder how much symbolism can be found in film of any genre- except maybe comedy) and I'm not trying to sound biased or prejudice here, I do like the older comedies from the '80s and '90s more than the newer ones though, I won't lie. Lee, I think even now, you're one of the better movie analyzers, even though Mike B constantly cracks me up with his witty comments, you've gotten a share of lols from me as well, and yes, your dance moves in the top 10 dance scenes in horror flicks was pretty funny! to be continued .......

"Hellraiser 5: Inferno" I believe has the meaning of how someone can affect their future end by actions taken now through life. Detective Thorn's end was a result of his life of not treating others right. I believe Pinhead even says the child represents Thorn is the killer by killing his innocence by his actions ending up where he did. He basically caused all that happened in the film.

I love your top 10 videos! In terms of Rosemary's baby, I never really pictured it as a horror movie either. I always looked at it as more a thriller. Yes, the plot is considered to be horror, but when I think of someone giving birth to a demon child, or anyone having a demon child, I think when it comes to horror movies like the Omen or the Exorcist that deal with posession by the devil. I think Rosemary's more a cult classic, and I recently watched it, and you're absolutely right about them portraying Rosemary with no control because of the way women were thought of at the time. When I was younger, I never understood that meaning in that movie. Interesting that you brought up the possibility of incest in the Shining. Interesting theory. I've seen a lot of analysis videos on the movie, and I haven't seen the incest theory brought up, but interesting none the less. Good list, and I love a lot of your top 10 videos!

Throwing this out here for those who have seen A Serbian Film. The filmmakers assert that it is symbolic of the abuse of the government towards the people of Serbia and exploiting them violently for their own gain. Some critics/viewers just see it as an excuse to throw the most blatantly offensive content onto the screen for shock value. I'm kind of in the middle, as I can see it as an indictment of horror fans and producers who want to see the most extreme or subversive takes, especially where shocking content is concerned, yet are inevitably appalled (or creepily turned on) when that's exactly what they get.

I enjoyed this video, Lee. As for the Silence of the Lambs/ serial murder climate in America symbolism,; (conspiracy alert) most of the the well known documented serial killers and lone shooters etc have a background of military training, MK Ultra involvement or family who work for DARPA. An interesting fact that is somehow "overlooked" in news reports on the subject. Also (here's a fun one) Dario Argento pointed out that in his own films rain represents change and often precedes a violent scene, also the shattering of glass represents the minds' exposure to trauma. Both of these examples can be found in Suspiria as well as many others in his filmography. So next time you're watching one of his bizarre movies and it begins to rain...brace yourself! Anyway, cheers buddy!

those early Romero DEAD films were chalk full of interesting subtext.. in NOTD, you nailed the civil rights aspect - but it was also about the sweeping wave of counter culture in our society at the time - and our survivors in the house, isolating themselves from the undead, were like those people trying to isolate themselves from a society in upheaval - and that no matter what you do, change will always win.. and then DAY was obviously symbolic of our society's disillusionment of our government - that these "leaders" have abandoned us - so it's a fuck the government type of film.. one film that i think you could've done as well (maybe in a part 2 video ;) ) was SIGNS by M. Night Shyamalan.. it might be a little on the nose, and the meaning of the film might not be really hidden - but i always appreciated how well crafted this movie was, and how what you think is the most insignificant detail, comes back to have major significance at the end - plus Mel Gibson's character arc, overcoming grief and the death of his wife.. plus - much like the color red in Sixth Sense, there are a lot 'circles' in this movie if you pay attention - symbolic of time, and life and death..

One of my personal favorite horror movies that has built up a bit of a cult following over the years since it came out was ORCA (1977). One of the deep meanings I kind of got out of the movie after seeing it many times over was even though the film depicts the title character as just a "Jaws-like" monster that goes on a killing spree; I got a bit of curious wonderment about the dark nature of the intelligence of killer whales, and just how their intelligence is in some ways a little bit similar to how humans behave, act/react to our own emotions and our emotional state of mind; (and just on a personal note I don't believe how one of the main characters makes her statement about how killer whales have an equal or greater intelligence than our own, just making that clear that's all I'm saying).
