Time for some interesting numbers, colleagues.
Forbes named the ten most expensive promotions in the world of martial arts:
1. UFC (value: $11.3 billion, revenue for 2023: $1.29 billion)
2. WWE (value: $6.8 billion, 2023 revenue: $1.33 billion)
3. AEW (value: $2 billion, revenue for 2023: $250 million)
4. One (cost: $1.3 billion, revenue for 2023: $140 million)
5. Matchroom Boxing (value - $850 million, revenue for 2023 - $134 million)
6. PFL (cost - $690 million, revenue for 2023 - $110 million)
7. Top Rank (value - $630 million, revenue for 2023 - $100 million)
8. PBC (cost - $600 million, revenue for 2023 - $95 million)
9. Golden Boy ($450 million, 2023 revenue: $70 million)
10. Combate Global (value - $120 million, revenue for 2023 - $18 million)
Methodology: Forbes used publicly available documents and interviewed industry experts and media outlets, as well as executives from various combat sports organizations. All figures are in US dollars based on exchange rates for the year ending June 30, 2023.
Let me add two interesting facts:
1. The biggest moment of last year in the world of combat sports was the merger and subsequent IPO of UFC and WWE - the first and second numbers in this ranking - under the name TKO Holdings. To get an idea of just how big each company was individually, the UFC produces about 40 events annually, reaching more than 900 million television viewers in more than 170 countries, while WWE produces more than 200 live events annually, with TV -broadcasts reach at least a billion people every week in more than 180 countries. Each of the two brands generated more than $800 million in MEDIA rights revenue, more than triple the total revenue of all other companies on the list.
2. In terms of income, star boxers still earn more than MMA fighters: Saul Alvarez and Anthony Joshua made Forbes magazine's 2023 list of the highest paid athletes. There are no MMA fighters on the 2023 list #boxing #ufc #wwe
