It’s got to be the players that not only turned our fortunes around and made us a side compete for Europe, but actually won the club silverware, so Bowen, Soucek and Coufal absolutely should be up there. The amount of goals they’ve contributed speaks volumes and they’ve brought professionalism to the club. Antonio even had a season finishing 7th under Slav, let alone under Moyes, so he needs to be up there. Especially the amount of goals he’s scored. Fabianski has been a great signing for the club too.

Final one has to be Zouma, Dawson was a hero and absolute bargain but Zouma brought an element of class to our defence which wasn’t there before, that was a signing which took the club up a level single-handedly (remember that summer the only other players we signed were Vlasic, Kral and Areola as backup GK on loan - yet we got to a europa league semi-final, Zouma was the key) - no.1 has to be our man Jarrod ⚒️

Although we brought him back in 2012, most of Ginger Pele's second spell was within the last 10 years and I simply can't leave him out of top 10 influential. If a ball came in our box (and a heck of a lot did) there was only one head getting to it. We've missed that since he finished, Soucek does a job but our CB's aren't as strong in the air.

I would suggest the signing of Felipe Anderson is the most influential signing in the last decade. Pellegrini's profligacy, of which the Anderson transfer is a perfect example, led to his dismissal, which in turn allowed David Moyes to return. Although I confess to being Moyes Out for his final season, there is no denying the step up in ambition and success his tenure ushered in. If Pellegrini had been more cautious, and hadn't splurged transfer money like a sailor, we'd probably have missed out on Moyes and missed out on arguably our most successful period.

It’s so difficult picking out of Dawson, Paqueta and Zouma. So I think context is required. Paqueta is a Brazilian international who is our record signing. Zouma was once our record CB signing and off the pitch brought a lot of unwanted scrutiny to the club with the incident. Dawson came in against huge fan backlash, and ultimately left the club with the fans wanting to see more of him. I don’t think we can say the same about Paqueta and Zouma. I get more frustrated with Paqueta than I did with the other two. So my answer is Craig Dawson. A loan deal and a £2m transfer fee. Made a small profit on him and I believe he played his best football at West Ham.

Watching the full live match replay of Spuds Vs Us on the WHU official channel I got a nostalgic feeling, even at 1 -0 and 2 - 0 down I was enjoying it (prob knowing what happens helps) and I was confused but I think it was bcos it was being played without fans and I remember how strange it was at first, for fans and can only imagine how it was for the players but for some reason it suited us and during that time I saw some of the best football I've seen us play - I wonder why..? It can't be just a coincidence can it..? We adapted really well to the new playing conditions, other teams didn't, I haven't looked at the stats but I expect we were impressive compared to our usual numbers - hence my nostalgic longing for that time whilst watching...

People are gonna think im a stuck record. But I cant look much past Antonio. 7 odd million. Top goal scorer in PL history. Top goal scorer in European history. Lead the line in the final of the competition that see us win our fist trophy in 50 years. Was the top goal scorer in that competetion. Still leads the line today. Only one who is even close to having a chance of surpassing him in the future in my opinion is Bowen. That's not recency bias, either. I genuinely think both have been key figures in the best version of us. Souceck is definitely up there as well. The three Moyes master strokes I call those three. Moyes's best work. Sell Haller and Anderson; buy a naturally left footed winger to play from the right by bringing in Bowen, buy a midfielder with huge presence to play next to Dec so we can commit another body further forward and turn Antonio into a CF. Antonio for me, Bowen second and still has more to give, Souceck 3rd. I cant look pass those three. All of their impact happened at the same time and transformed us from relegation candidates to European regulars.

Said Benrahma scored in the final 😉😅 Edit: I intended this comment as a joke - but then checked and saw Benny scored five more goals for us than Pablo did, and only had one less assist despite a fair chunk less overall playing time. Goes to show how that cult hero/nice guy status is so valuable in the long run because Gonzo was excited to include Pabs but no mention for Mr Marmite - and surely that goal contributing towards our trophy alone makes him way more influential. Just my 2 cents anyway, not me trying to argue Said should be in the top 10 don't worry hehehe
