I would choose the 2025 Camry - even in it's base model - Camry LE hybrid. It is extremely well made in every respect. The size is great for most families. And it will last for a long time. Thank you for offering such a good program! As always, it is appreciated by many!

Subaru crosstrek is one of the best cars I’ve ever had. I recently purchased a Porsche macan and my husband drives the crosstrek now. I still pick that car to drive over the Porsche sometimes. I feel like I can drive in any condition. It’s comfortable and easy to drive. The only limit I’ve recently came across is the towing capacity is quite low- only 1500lbs which limits even pulling a lot of pop up campers. I also owned the Toyota Corolla cross for about a year and it was a good car. Has everything you would need. Engine felt like it was struggling a good amount of the time though. The Corolla Cross should run forever.

As far as I know I was the first cab driver to buy a Toyota Camry for use as a taxi...2006 in New Rochelle New York....I don't regret it a bit....now look around the are all over the place... I'm thinking on buying a Prius... unfortunately the new Prius has this funky way of opening the back doors....it may be difficult for the passengers... especially the older ones....I might go for a Corolla hybrid instead

If you're thinking Prius, for a Taxi, I'd go with Rav4, or the Honda equivalent, hybrid. Maybe even a Civic Hatchback. The Corolla Cross isn't that roomy at the back. Or hell, the new Camry hybrid, why not, must be around the price of a Rav4 / Prius. A Prime version, for taxis... Probably not that useful, and eats the cargo space. But definitely not the new Prius. It's very low and awkward for some people, not much headroom at the back also, the cargo space is not great. In Europe, the Rav4, but also the Corolla Touring Sport is the vehicle of choice for taxis / Uber, it's got a bit more room at the back than the Corolla Cross / Regular, and also good cargo space.

Excellent top! It is obviously related to the reliability rankings and to the low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) too. For this pricing interval, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru and Honda are great choices - plus Suzuki and Mitsubishi outside North America. Well done!

How about doing an episode on cars that are least likely to rust? For those of us that live in a wet climate our vehicles usually get scrapped due to rust, even when everything else is still in good working order. The manufacturers use thin steel sheets and only galvanize one side, so you car rusts from the inside out. Cars are just so expensive these days that cost of ownership needs to account for rust eating away at your vehicle.

Really EXCELLENT list. I sold all these brands and l concur that one of the best buys out there, is the Subaru Impreza which gives you a lot of satisfaction for a reasonable price. And of course, Toyota Corolla: it's a masterpiece of the balance of price, mpg, performance, comfort and safety. We WILL buy the Corolla Hatchback as soon as it becomes a hybrid.

Thank you, I feel like all your recommendations are correct. Just to add, I feel like cheaper Honda cars are overvalued, and Mazda cars are undervalued. I used to have Honda Civic, and it was not that reliable. Also, if price is your main decision factor, I would go for some cheaper Nissan or Kia model. They are not that good, but the price differential is like 8K, and that is enough to change CVT twice, which is very unlikely.

Your comment is good, except that Kia is not a good option, because it is not reliable. Nor is Hyundai. Korean cars' TCO is higher than for reliable Japanese cars, despite the lower acquisition price. But if some people are dumb enough to waste time, but have a lower purchase price then it is good for clunkers' sales.
