I’m only 3 minutes in and I need to stop to recognize and praise Marc’s ability to capture, organize, edit, and present some of the most epic B-roll scenes I’ve ever seen. The level of vision, forethought, and memory it takes to comb through hundreds of hours of footage is admiring. Well done, Marc, well done

Great Smoky Mountains NP: on Wednesdays between May and September, the Cades Cove Loop Road is closed to motor vehicles, so you have the entire 11-mile loop open only to bicycles and hikers. Especially nice if you camp at the Cades Cove Campground, so you can just get on your bike at your camper and ride the loop.

What a great refresher to our favorites! While you’re on your way to Shenandoah National Park, try to drive some or all of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 469 miles, no stoplights ! It’s an absolutely beautiful drive. Many gorgeous, well marked overlooks. Also, on your trip out to Washington State, try to see Leavenworth, Washington. Beautiful, mountain village

My personal favorite is Sequoia Nation Park, mostly due to my deep affinity with the Giant Sequoias, but also because the park has played such an influential roll in my life across a good part of my life. I was fortunate to work at the park the summer I was 19-20 (1974) and living under those magnificent trees 24/7 for 6 months totally changed the way I perceived plant life of all kinds, a deep revelation for me that has stayed with me to this day.

We loved this video so much. We have fallen in love with the National Parks. This year is my daughter’s 4th grade year and the National Parks Foundation issues free National Park passes to families with 4th graders. It might be a fun tip to share with your audience. We have decided that each of our children’s 4th grade years we will do a big NP trip and she has chosen Florida NPs this year. We can’t wait to follow along this season with y’all!!

When you say 4th grade year, is that summer 3rd to 4th grade? Or 4th to 5th grade? My son is 3rd to 4th grade, but this summer is RVing to Florida for Disney. We usually do National parks. We live in Wyoming so for us that means Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Sometimes Rocky Mountain National Park. Next year we will be back to Yellowstone and then Glacier.

Just got back from Smoky Mountain National Park and had a blast. We love your videos and always have an eye out looking for KYD on the road. Thanks for your spectacular videos. Maybe we'll bump into each other someday. Also love that you are donating to Team Rubicon. We are both vets and have a few friends that volunteer for Team Rubicon.

Yosemite absolutely blew my mind. I'm in Washington. I can't wait for you to see Hurricane Ridge. Also go see the Hoh Rainforest and Sol duc hot springs resort. After hiking, if needed order you burgers/food, then go take your shower and the food will be ready when you get done. Some amazing hiking at Sunrise, Rainier. Go down to Shadow Lake slightly southwest of the parking lot, then head up to the Fremont fire lookout. This will take all day. There and back. Absolutely phenomenal!!! One of my favorite things I gave done. And I've traveled the planet a fair bit.

Yellowstone is the #1 by any metric... I spent 8 days hiking around the park, slowing down and doing it all is worth it. I could go on and on about all the amazing stuff to see, but in reality, no words can do it justice, spending a week doing every last corner (if you enjoy nature) is something people will never regret.

We just got home from 5 days at Capital Reef NP. Some tips if you go. The pies at the Gifford House are really that good but get there early. On busy days they sell out in two hours. All the trails along highway 24 and the scenic drive are very busy. You have to be there early or late at any of them to get a parking spot. There are 2 canyon hikes in the park where you will have the hike all to yourself. Surprise Canyon and Headquarters Canyon are fantastic hikes, as good as any in the park but zero crowds. We did both and we were the only car at each trailhead. Lastly, have dinner at Hunt & Gather. You will need reservations but it one of the best restaurants you will ever eat at. Seriously.

Your advice is always bang on and I look forward to each and every episode. While I have travelled to several of the US national parks you mentioned in the past (and wholeheartedly agree with your assessments of each), there are others I hope to explore in the near future as a Canadian preparing for full-time RV life. Great lists! Capitol Reef is my favorite of the big 5, it's a more intimate experience. The Capitol Gorge and Tanks trail was really meaningful, realizing this hiking path, hacked out by pioneers in 1884, was the only way into the canyon for wagons and vehicles. Early travelers etched their names into the sandstone walls. Not an intra-park drive, but between Bryce and Capitol Reef, Scenic Byway 12 is INCREDIBLE. We were lucky enough to drive it in the fall as the aspens changed, oh, my.

Great video! Two National Parks you have to get to are Isle Royale on Lake Superior and Big Bend in Texas. You can’t RV camp in Isle Royale of course but the boat ride on Lake Superior to the island is worth it. Go to Big Bend in December, January, or February (the month we did). March will have all the spring breakers and the other months are just too hot (except for maybe November). Both of these are two of the least visited National Parks. More people visit Yellowstone in one day than visit IR during its entire season!

So many to do items, so little time. Yes, the passports books are very cool. Mine in Pictured Rocks in the MI UP. REMEMBER, if you forget your book you can still get the stamp and put it in later. Many places have round stickers that fit in the stamp spot of the book. I also recommend taking it on vacation because you never know where you will end up. Did a tour in FL before a cruise and it took us to a National Park. They size is cool because its very easy to throw in a backpack.

I highly recommend the White mountains national park in NH. So many things to do and a beautiful drive over the kancamaus high way. Also MT Washington is Amazing!!! There’s a weather station at the top and you can see for hundreds of miles.! They have 2 ways getting to the top and that’s by the train thing or there’s a auto road. I haven’t done the train but I have done the auto road and man it’s amazing. I highly recommend this area

Yes, we really enjoyed our time there last fall. Right before we drove RT100 in the fall. Perhaps that should have been on our list.

This video will make everyone who watches want to hit the road. One thing I’d love to see is how you managed Charlie while at the different less than pet friendly parks. Pets and RVs go hand and hand and I remember the first NP we went to that we couldn’t take our dogs.

You guys are a huge reason we got into "RVing" (we only have a pop-up)! We are doing Rocky Mountain NP and Durango this summer. Our first "big" trip. I can't wait!

I lived in Maryland in the 70s and two of my favorite places to go was the Skyline Drive & the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots of hiking there as well.

Thanks so much for the video. I love the National Parks. Last year we did a cross country trip form Ca to Tenn, up to Ohio and across the northern states. We visited 14 National parks. We just got back from a Central Calif trip to three more, and this June we are traveling north to Olympia and Mt Rainer. I have visited others in my life time like in Hawaii. I have many more to visit. I will enjoy seeing where you go this summer.

If you are doing Skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP and also going to Great Smokey NP, you must include the Blue Ridge Parkway in your itinerary! 469 epic miles of Appalachia splendor. There are awesome state parks a short detour from the Parkway as well: Fairy Stone, Grayson Highlands, and Stone Mountain. Our absolute FAVORITE National Park that rarely gets mentioned is Big Bend in Texas. Absolutely worth the trip and great for a visit in the middle of winter. The weather is absolutely fabulous in January (warm days, cool/cold nights). However, beware of crowds during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.

My husband and I have been long-time viewers and thoroughly enjoy your videos and advice every week, but this is the first time I've commented. Your recap of the National Parks was so interesting and helpful, thank you! I would like to suggest that when you do the Olympic National Park that you absolutely do the Hoh Rain Forest. We lived in Washington state for almost 18 years and it is the MOST SPECTACULAR (lol) place anywhere that I've ever seen! Just even driving the Hoh Valley Road is amazing. We stop on the side of the road and take pics that will blow your mind...You can't miss it! Also, Ruby Beach on Highway 101 is incredible, please be sure to put that in your plan too, another SPECTACULAR sight! Enjoy your summer and we look forward to watching your journey every week. God Bless
