Seasons... it IS good on BGA but nothing beats the IRL chonky dice feels, but best with players of similar level of experience with the game. Five Tribes is sooooo good and I am so bad at it. But I love this game. I just hate playing with other people (A.P.). lol Could go on and on... GREAT LIST.

Magic the Gathering has good mechanics overall and great choices of cards and game modes. Lands aren't really a problem. Plus it has some of the most beautiful art on cards of all card games - though obviously it varies from set to set and from decade to decade and is highly subjective. Seriously. Trust me on all that. Having said it - I haven't played MtG for past 7~8 years and don't plan to do it anymore.

If I were to do a top 100 list, I'm quite sure that at least half of the list would be more than _20_ years old. And Agricola wouldn't make the list, though M:tG, Seventh Sea CCG, and Legend of the Five Rings definitely would. 8-) (I have about the same reaction to Agricola as you do to M:tG -- I get that some people really like the game, but I have to assume it's a result of brain damage or a very sad childhood.)

14:52 Yes, Age of Innovation is better than Terra Mystica in almost every way. I see no reason to play TM now that there is AoI… For example, the variable setup is just so much better in AoI - so you can play the factions differently. Also, the gameplay is deeper, with the books.

@@Shura-23 haven't played hegemony or through the ages yet. Also haven't played age of innovation but have played terra mystica and Gaia quite a bit, I'd say I like those at more than 2 players. For me, I love Everdell, then Brass, then Ark nova then scythe in terms of preference, but I think everdell might have more luck but I love chaining the cards together and it works really well. Brass shines at 4 players but 2 is also very fun, probably the most pure strategy you can get, and then ark nova is solid too but you can try that on Board game arena if you want

I don’t like Five Tribes. It was the game which made me discover that I don’t like games which are overly tactical. What I really don’t like is that it is a multi-player (as in more than 2 player) game, in which the board state changes EVERY turn, based on what other players do - so therefore, it is impossible to plan your turn until RIGHT BEFORE your turn comes along - which contributes to the Analysis Paralysis (AP) - and I am the ultimate objectivist to begin with, so I am looking at every move and am quite AP-prone anyway. But, for example, in a 4-player game - depending on how things go, you might go 7 times without having a turn (if you bid to go 1st one round - and then end up going last the next round). Also, as I said, between turns, there is just nothing for you to do except for waiting until right before your turn. You can’t plan your move ahead.
