I still feel bad about Shelley along with many actors having a director who has been treated poorly and shamefully

Poor Shelley Duvall, she was tormented on the set of "The Shining." No wonder her performance seemed genuine.

While filming "Angel Face" (1950), Howard Hughes had the director make life miserable for Jean Simmons over a contract dispute. The director had Robert Mitchum slap Simmons over and over again in a reshoot harder and harder until Mitchum slapped the director out of his chair and allegedly said "Is that hard enough for you?" I wish there had been someone like that there for Shelley.

No, their egos can be massive. I was at a restaurant when the host came over and asked the table next to us to move to another because of a VIP guest, and they declined. He returned to ask again, offered them a free meal to move to another table, and when they declined refused to serve them. They refreshed the table and the actor and I assume an actress sat down. The conversation we overheard was so condescending to everyone around, even the waitress, the people around the table, we just asked for the check and left. I was disillusioned and disgusted, and never watched another movie with either of them in it.

My two Aunties were film actresses, and there was plenty of animosity between them, dating back to childhood (rather reminiscent of de Havilland and Fontaine) and which lasted until their dying day. Can't we all just get along...little dogie?

Your aunties wouldn't happened to be named Baby Jane and Blanche, would they?
@craigtalbott731

@@MeganKoumori That actually may be not so far-fetched. The true tale was told where both of my Aunties were of a young, impressionable age when their parents were out one evening to dinner so that back @ the residence the elder sister (bigger and stronger...there was a five-and-one-half age differential) wrestled her younger sibling into a chair, tying her to it w/ rope, switched on the radio (that should let you all realize just how far back this was), turned off all of the interior lights and then forced the younger one to listen through some of the horror programs being broadcast @ the time (e.g., "Lights Out", "Suspense", "Inner Sanctum", "The Witch's Tale") while probably offering mild verbal, mental and physical torture tactics simultaneously. Later on the younger sister became the better known of the two and eventually even designated a "scream queen" for the several monster movies which she appeared in. (She got herself a good and early, albeit involuntary, education.) However as adults they had nothing to do w/ each other ever again.
