Wow! You made a great video again! Even as a Japanese person who has lived in Tokyo and Nagoya for many years, I could never make such an outstanding video. It's filled with valuable information, not only for foreign tourists but also for Japanese viewers. By the way, I always enjoy the conversations between you and K.

Thank you and kudos for giving Osaka the respect that it deserves! It's always been next-level Japan for visitors. You really have to go beyond Japan clichés to appreciate it. Needless to say, I went straight to Osaka when I first arrived and lived there for a couple years ( I was a massive J-history and culture otaku) and don't regret it one bit!

Well, still, there is not much there to 'see'. But that is why We feel at home in Osaka. I think the charm of Osaka is that you can drink, eat, live, sleep, and walk comfortably in Osaka, and if you want to go somewhere, you can easily go anywhere from the neighboring cities of Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe to as far as Hokkaido or Okinawa. You can go also anywhere in Tokyo, but Osaka is simply a more comfortable place to live. Please take a JR train(Ltd. Exp. KUROSHIO) to the south of Wakayama, preferably to Nachi-Katsuura or thereabouts. I am sure you will experience the advantages of Osaka's location.

I agree, there’s not as many ‘tourist attractions’ as maybe other cities, and maybe that’s why it’s not at the top of everyone’s list. But yes being in the centre of the amazing Kansai region is such a benefit!! Wakayama is on my list, it looks so beautiful 😍

This is a very well observed video! It is excellent! Originally, “Umeda” comes from the Chinese character “埋田”. It changed from the meaning of reclaimed land and became Umeda. Later, when JR moved into the area, it was named Osaka to make it easier to understand as the name of the area, which led to the name Osaka Station. The name Umeda is a remnant of the old name. So the names are mixed. Shinsaibashi to Namba is a symbolic place of Osaka. I think the big signboards show Osaka's show-off character. It is said that “kuidaore” = eat and fall down, and “kidaore” = buy too many fashion stores. Since it has been called “the kitchen of the nation” for a long time, there are so many restaurants.
This is one of the most comprehensive videos I have seen. Kudos to you! Cannot wait to go visit this December and I'm so happy that we're staying at Hankyu Respire Hotel. Thank you!

@@Sunny_in_Japan Nagoya Castle is probably the most famous, with its iconic golden shachihoko (mythical carp) on the roof. There's also a small shopping area nearby! Another popular attraction is Higashiyama Zoo's famous "handsome gorilla," Shabani 🦍 Plus, the newly opened Ghibli Park has quickly become a must-visit spot. While these are well-known tourist destinations, what I'd really recommend is the food. You should try hitsumabushi (Nagoya's unique style of grilled eel on rice), tebasaki (fried chicken wings), miso katsu (pork cutlet with miso sauce), and miso nikomi udon (noodles in a miso-based broth). Miso-based dishes are a specialty here!

Glad you enjoyed it! Oh that’s a good question - there’s a yakiniku joint called Tajimaya that serves the most delicious wagyu I’ve ever had with wasabi 🤤 I don’t know if it classifies as a ‘local eatery’ though haha
hmmm,.... the Osaka historical museum near the castle is extremely good, and if you take the stairs instead of elevator there are great views of the castle. There is also a different Namba Shrine (in Bakuromachi) which I like more; there is a Camphor tree here which survived the Pacific War bombings,... if you touch it you are said to get " energy ",... also, um, crime in Namba is somewhat high (especially purse snatching) ...

0:23 Wow! How did you get to know that Osaka is dangerous at night time ? Your original idea ? It's predudice, isn't it ? Even in New York, some say it's safe, others say it's dangerous. I think you should write more objectively and specifically.
@Sunny_in_Japan
10 күн бұрын
I agree, safety is definitely subjective When I went to Osaka for the first time in 2014, my research into the trip told me it was a bit dangerous (relative to other Japanese cities) at night time, and I definitely felt that as the sun went down I felt less safe then, but I don’t have that experience ten years later going back to the same places. I have also heard Japanese people tell me they have similar experiences. Because of this lingering outdated stereotype that Osaka is dangerous at night time, I felt like many tourists were missing the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful nightlife scene in Osaka. But now that you mention it, I think you’re right. It would have strengthened my argument if I could have backed it up with some data. Thank you for your feedback 💪
