...some things I think are very helpful...but most of it useless. The go see part seems to show them how it feels to be judged.. Miss j teaching the girls to runway walk would be a priceless lesson and I saw some early cycles that Janice would do lessons with the girls like how to pose in a bathing suit and Paulina porizcova did some lessons later in the cycles...but some of it was just to make the girls look dumb
@alos4025

@@dylanbuckskin8995 what do you mean the go see part shows them how it feels to be judged? Lol, they're judged every single week based on their performance by a panel of judges, IN FRONT of the other aspiring models. I'm pretty sure that'll make anyone feel more judged than a go see which they usually only do once during the entire competition. But I agree, I think the show and Tyra (personally), get's some sort of sick pleasure from putting these girls through ridiculous, non realistic photoshoots and "challenges". I have yet to see any big time model do even a quarter of the insane things they make them do. I mean, come on, walking a water runway in a giant bubble? Walking on a conveyor belt in heels, walking in time between two giant swinging pendulums, and the photoshoots? Posing in a butcher shop with dead meat hanging up while in meat bathing suites (before Gaga did this... hmm wonder where she got the idea from), making them up in essentially black face (twice! Come on, Tyra wake up!), a photoshoot wearing dresses made of human hair, in wind tunnels to advertise foundation (um, ok), making them nearly get hypothermia by taking pictures in a freezing cold pool (you couldn't have had it heated?) All in the name of "fashion". And then once these girls finished the show, you never hear about 90% of them ever again. Why? Because they have a portfolio of clownish "high fashion" pictures OR, they just figured that how the show was, was what it was like to be a model, when in reality, it was not even close to being like that.

Setting them up for realistic expectations. I worked as a model and there is so much shady shit that goes on that makes this look like a cakewalk. You're absolutely right. There are some really great people and some who are working to make changes, but there's still a ton of awful people who continue to get away with Terry Richardson-esq abuse with so much as a scratch on their careers. Luckily, freelance models keep groups to expose bad behavior and to keep others up to date on who they should or shouldn't work for, but agencies still have some major issues and refusing to work with a famous photog known to be a predator is a good way to get dumped. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a Me Too movement solely dedicated to the modeling and fashion industries. Maybe I missed it?

Tyra did have short hair, not buzz cut short, but it was short, but it is hair, there really is no reason to cry if you can grow it back, like i understand when the girl who wore wigs because of a medical condition and she cried because she was scared about people judging her (she was beautiful btw) but i think the girl crying about her hair was a little over dramatic (even if she does have insecurities) Tyra wanted her to realize she is beautiful even without her long hair, so i don't think Tyra was doing it to be mean or to be a hypocrite, but to teach the girl a lesson and have her inner and outer beauty show, but thats just my opinions and thoughts so

Violett Bellerose Tyra's signature look is her long hair, because she is famous and not in the compition she doesn't need to change it and she is also known for her personality and she knows her inner beauty, Tyra was also showing the girls that if they really do want to be models they will have to change themselves physically because modeling companies want a certain look for a certain thing and it would be difficult to find jobs if you are just sticking to one look, and that doesn't happen in just the modeling industry it happens many places like music and sports
@violettbellerose1173
6 жыл бұрын
I thought her signature look were her eyes, because hairstyles are always changing. Take Anniston for example, her signature look was "the Rachel" but she had to change it overtime. Now, usually the looks that are shown in photoshoots use wigs instead of cutting the hair of the model and in runways happens the same (because it's easier to work with long hair than with short hair). I'm not saying cuts never happen, but are not as usual. The makeovers some of these girls have to go through not only messed up with their self esteem but also didn't favor them, which should also be the point. It's like the quote "if it's not broken, don't fix it". Many actors and other famous people do change constantly their hairstyle but not in detriment of their beauty.

I never understood why would anyone just have sex with someone on tv, while they have a loving and watching partner at home. That's is like the worst nightmare of relationships, worst betrayal and humiliating. And if you do it, I have to suppose that you don't actually care for that person even slightly, so why do you cry afterwards? I remember a few cycles of Top Model where they did have a "plus size" girl but from what I remember they often ended up getting beaten down by the industry in general - i.e there were never any good sample sizes for them etc. It was so sad to watch these girls becoming increasingly withdrawn and defeated. Sadly I feel as though this is one of the few things about Top Model that was true to real life within the industry; if you don't fit into the mould then nobody wants to know regardless of how pretty you are or how hard you work so you've either got to be sample size or you have to be legitimately plus size (not just "fashion" plus size).

There is nothing wrong or unhealthy about being a size six it's actually a pretty average size. It's not too big and it's not too skinny and it's certainly not unhealthy. Don't go around body shaming people even below size six doesn't mean they are unhealthy. There are different body types some women are naturally smaller and some bigger and I could sort of understand making a big deal about the really small waist lines (but still still for some it's natural) but you don't get to say that it's only healthy and normal to be big and have the cut off for unhealthy be a six. - From a US size 6 woman who enjoys life and likes being healthy.

Yes, nice statement. Have a friend who's about 4 feet tall, size 0. She was overweight and unhealthy at size 6. Size does not determine composition. You can be fat at size 2, slim and trim at 14.

I love this show but I hate Tyra so much. She’s so insensitive she made a contestant suffering in the hospital with food poisoning, sneak out of the hospital and come to the judging panel thing just so she wouldn’t be eliminated.

Oh, we would never eliminate someone for being sick...but she'd be eliminated for not showing up to the judging. ???

V M that’s exactly what I’m saying?? They could’ve just done the judging without her instead of making her sneak out of the hospital.

She seems to want to make herself very important.

Tyra's comeback to Denzel's homophobic views against Will being in the competition during cycle 21 should've been an honourable mention.

Literally never been so proud of Tyra. Sometimes her "wisdom" is ridiculous but she was preaching TRUTH at that moment.
