Wish I had asked the questions you mentioned on your check list. I rented a place on a ranch. They (landlord) were very diligent in their lease regarding the dogs but, when we got there, the landlords (a couple) acted like they didn't know farm dogs bark when strange cars come to their home or at night when an animal that ISN'T not supposed to be there (bobcat, raccoon, opossum etc.) Is getting into mischief. To be clear,my dogs did not bark much at all -and certainly No more or less then their own two dogs or all the neighbors dogs.... But I digress. Anyway, I wish I had thought to ask the very questions you listed here. I wonder if I'll get an opportunity to do ever ask your check list questions, since I'm in the Houston TX area after covid, the cost of housing has sky rocketed and EVERY rental ad states "no pets"! At present, I'm now homeless, living in my horse trailer. I have 2 horses and 5 very well behaved adult dogs (all neutered/spayed and on flea treatment). Oooop! There i go digressing again....Sorry, I'm a little distraught at the the present moment. It's just Amazing how fast everything can change. Note: People who are thinking of getting/rescuing any animal.... Do it if you are able, however, either OWN your home and pray that you stay financially secure. The very thought of giving them up is not only unachievable all animal shelters/fosters in the region are PAST capacity!! So many people are giving up their animals bc their in a similar situation. But for me it would be like giving up children you rescued, adopted, nurtered and loved. Not going to do it unless I can be assured they will be loved and safe. They are my heart, they are what has kept me going this far. If I don't have them, I'd be an empty shell. Sorry. I'm just venting now..... *Sigh....

What if your looking for a place keeping parakeets, snakes, lizards and a turtle in a 55 gal tank, looking for an apartment

You should ask what the pet policy is for the apartment outside of dogs and cats. Some property manager may be more restrictive than others. Large fish tanks can be a problem due to potential water damage if they leak/break, but small reptiles may be fine as long as they are not poisonous and are kept in a tank. Property managers goal is to minimize damage and noise from pets, so the best thing to do is ask up front. You could tell management that you are considering getting a lizard/turtle and see what they say. Good luck
