Yeah him and his siblings were all abused by their father. He never had a childhood. It's likely his Molestation charges were just him trying to connect with kids and have a childhood, as that desire was prevalent throughout his later years.

Here's my take, at least in regards to child actors: Acting is a very hard craft to do well. It's not just having a certain look and memorizing lines, not just being a pretty parrot. You have to become a character who's had an entire lifetime of experiences that have happened before the story of the film takes place. Actor Peter Lorre once said that to be a good actor is to be a good psychologist. Hard enough for adults, right? Well, on top of the things on the list, give that kind of work to a child, of constantly switching personalities when they themselves are trying to develop and figure out who they are, and no wonder they go nuts.
@PiratDunkelbart
9 жыл бұрын
+TheaterRaven Yeah, i think thats even tough for adult actors. If youre that good and can change into another personality to present your stage role, you have to "give up" your usual personality - at least for that moment. Without an established "Basic" personality, it can cause you to alter your usual personality, so youll go "nuts". If other things like pressure, abuse and bad parenting n stuff sum up to this, you cant really wonder about these mess ups.

@GeneBurnett

+TheaterRaven I agree...that's definitely tricky at any age, especially childhood. But factor this in as well: Show business attracts unstable people with weak egos who are hungry, even desperate, for attention and worship. The biz provides the spotlight, the attention and worship that they crave...if they meet with success, there's a huge "fix" not only of attention but of money, confidence, and ego inflation (which is not the same thing as ego strength). What happens when a weak person gets a high like that? It wears off and they want more...escalating into addiction and craziness. This is true of every kind of show business...whether it's music, movies, porn, or whatever...lots of insecure, addicted, and desperate people...I don't fault show business...because many people, in all these fields, do work it out and become whole people, people who enjoy the work and are good at it...but when you come in that hungry for the love of complete strangers...the odds are against you to begin with. It seems to me that the child stars who do the best have strong parents who are truly supportive and involved in their lives...not as "agents" or "managers" but as parents. Ditto the adults in the biz who end up good people. They have families and friends who help keep them honest and grounded.

They do. For actors at least I know, you are only allowed to work a certain number of hours on set depending on your age, and they are required to hire an on set teacher/ supervisor unless you have passed the CHSPE test (high school exit exam) which makes you considered "legal 18." You are only allowed to take that exam when you are 15 and a half or have passed sophomore year of high school.

I feel bad for all the stars that started out young. Since all of them went down a wrong path and all of them never gained a childhood in their lives. Especially Michael Jackson's life, he never had a childhood; all of his life has been all around Jackson 5 and touring non stop. Fame came all too fast for them, especially Miley Cyrus since her dad wanted her to be famous at a young age and she never had time to be a teen all of her life had been surrounded by Hannah Montana. As this video says all of this are after the effects of starting young. If parents were not selfish and cared for their kids. Then they would give them a childhood, teenage life and finally fame.

I honestly feel bad for some of these celebrities. People think they have it easy, with the money and the fame, but really they're experiencing problems just like anyone else. They have to watch who to trust, who they tell something too, and even whether or not the people around them have their best interest at heart. Because the sad reality for them is, that there are many people (even family) who are only around them because of their wealth, or using their name to get something. Imagine what someone like Bieber who grew up basically singing in the spotlight has to go through. It's hard to know who your friends really are, or who is just being with you because they are there for you...because that dude is making millions upon millions of dollars, and with that kind of money, guaranteed he has to watch who he trusts, because people are out there just using him for money..and you know what...I actually feel for any celebrity that has to go through some shit.

Barry Williams sums up perfectly and brilliantly what it means to be a child star, and a former child star, in the Afterword of his book _Growing Up Brady_. If you're at all interested in this subject, get it and read it. Just one of the things that he says is that anyone who's had success in showbiz from childhood on to adulthood (for instance, Kurt Russell or Drew Barrymore) has had that success _despite_ having been known as a child star, not because of it. It really makes you think about your own childhood, your own life. And it makes you realize that if you had a "normal" childhood (although I'm not sure what that even is), you're lucky. Millions didn't, and they weren't all in showbiz, either.

I don't know if she is doing drugs or not, but she will in time, if this (what she's doing right now) isn't going to stop. The money will run out, then we get to see the apprentice of lindsay lohan. I honestly don't care if she's doing drugs or not. I just want her to act a role in one movie. I want to see how good her acting is, but since she twerks too much no one willing to hire her. Let's see how long will she keep this kind of attitude and where it leads her.

There are so many ignorant people. Yes I understand it is the internet, and yes ignorance runs rampant here. But all these people that are butt hurt and saying things like "oh boohoo poor rich kids" are so stupid. These people only see the money, they don't see the lives, the pain, the loneliness, the struggles, the addiction, the anxiety etc. Stop being so shallow, try to think about peoples story/lives not their possessions.

Child Stars That Went/Have Gone Crazy (off the rails): Lindsay Lohan Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone) Amanda Bynes Britney Spears Haley Joel Osment Shia Labeouf Justin Bieber Miley Cyrus Kristen Stewart Michael Jackson Selena Gomez Demi Lovato Drew Barrymore (but she is better now) Neil Patrick Harris (but he is better now). Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe & even Rupert Grint are good examples of child stars who grew into adult stars wonderfully. They don't do drugs, they don't party all the time, they aren't broke (they're still making lots of money from acting, modelling etc.), they aren't skanks, they still possess talent, they aren't getting into fights, they aren't going to jail, they're not arrogant pricks and they are liked by the world. They are acting like sensible proper men and women, and I suggest that: Lindsay, Amanda, Shia, Kristen, Justin & Miley etc. follow in their similar footsteps.

@pojomon1234

+Illier1 and perhaps the reason they've grown into success is because they've stayed so far away from Hollywood you fucking idiot.
