The ladies loved the car huh? Most women I knew couldn't tell one car from the next. I bought my Mustang to race the hell out of it and that I did. One night at our regular hangout I saw a couple of girls leaning on my LX. I walked over and asked them to please not lean on my car. They said "It's not your car, it's Debbie's car!" I asked "What kind of car does Debbie have?". "A Chevy Beretta" was the reply. I said "Well, you're leaning on a Ford Mustang!" That was very typical of the girls at our local cruise spot. They didn't care what king of car you had as long as is was shiny.

You left out my biggest reason for loving the 5.0 Fox…durability. As a light car with a full sized car in-line drive train, they are overbuilt compared to today’s approach of putting in components that are sized to the exact platform. My 92 LX 5.0 convertible (owned since 1995), has over 300,000 miles on it and the engine has never been opened and doesn’t burn oil. Considering the mileage, I’ve done very little except routine maintenance. The list of replaced parts is fairly short. A radiator, 2 water pumps, one brake line, a rebuild of the infamous AOD transmission and I recently replaced the original convertible top. Except for the water pumps and brake line, all of these could have been deferred if I was willing to accept less than original performance. The car has been driven in all kinds of conditions and has lived outside for much of its life. Compared to all the other cars my family has owned, this is the low cost high reliability vehicle…..despite its 29-year age and 300K mileage. The number of vehicles you can own for 26 years, drive over a quarter of a million miles and then sell for more than you paid for it is a darn short list.

I owned mine for 24 years. I think anyone that owns one will smile from ear to ear when they see how well foxbodies respond to mods. The small things may not seem significant like a K&N filter or adding a strut tower brace but the big changes will definitely. these cars were 0 to 60 around 6.5 sec and quarter mile of 15s stock. but the minute mods like 3.73 gears. heads cam, intake throttlebody headers cat back injectors underdrive pullies, maf meters and so forth came into play. now the car just got really quick real fast. now its 0 to jail in under 4 one last caveat. modding a foxbody is like eating lays potato chips you cant just eat one. it gets better with every mod.

The daily driver experiznce was very good, smooth, comfortable, good handling. They are amazing cars for many reasons, but despised here. The style is too different from what people think a Mustang should look like. They are also quite rare, while 1st gen, 5th and 6th gen are relatively common here. I wish I could find a Capri but I think there are less than 20 in the whole Europe. I've only seen four online for sale since I got into these cars.

Hello, liked the video! As for painting a car, I am retired and during the last few years have learned how to paint my own cars. My first attempt was a complete failure. The next attempt was much better but still not right. I ended up just purchasing wrecked cars, watched lots of You tube Videos (The Gunman, painter from Australia, Paint Society, out of Fla.). I converted my Garage into a paint booth and now paint cars on the side. Like learning anything new, you learn more from failures and I have made many. My next project is rebuilding a T5 Transmission, learning from the best, Paul Cangialosi, who wrote the High Performance Manual Transmission. As for the cost of the materials, its much less then the cost of paying someone to paint your car, it pays for itself the first time and you have a new skill you can use.

I just got my own my hands on a ‘79 GT convertible a couple weeks ago, and I have 0 regret in my purchase. She needs a *lot* of cosmetic work, and sometimes I do doubt whether it was really a good idea to buy something like this right now. But when I hop in and turn the key, and that 5.0 releases that sonorous war cry, all those second thoughts just kept away. I was going to do some modes on it, but was told that would down grade the value. I don’t take it out that often. My 17yr old Granddaughter loves for us to take it out for nice long rides. She loves it when I get down on it. You have a nice looking 5.0, I had one the same color I bought in 93. I did all the modes on it, but never went inside the motor and was out running Cobras with no problem, all with bolt on items. The one I have now is Silver, you don’t see many of them. @@KASLCustoms Great videos! Thx for sharing. I just noticed that your KZitem videos says KASL Custom. Does that mean you restore cars? Reason I ask is because I’ve been toying with the idea of someone restoring my Fox Body mustang. I don’t know where to start to find such a person or competent and knowledgeable shop, but I’m interested. Also, it’s worth mentioning... my 5.0 has never seen bad weather. It was originally purchased in FL by its previous owner and then me. I moved from FL to CA and had this car as a daily driver until I retired it in 2004. At which point this car was stored at Sony Pictures Entertainment in their underground garage. Actually it was stored next to Ricky Bobby’s NASCAR from the Movie Talladega Nights for about 5 years. I’ve got plenty of pictures of Will Farrell’s car with mine. Then when I moved from Los Angeles back to FL, the car was shipped x-country and has been in my garage ever since. So it’s always been in warm, sunny weather. It’s never seen snow or salt. There’s no rust on it. The other thing that’s interesting is that many years ago I asked Ford for the build sheet on the car. They sent it to me. I was prompted to ask for it because when in CA, I had to have the California Highway Patrol inspect it before I could resister it in the state. That was back in 2001. They took the car back into their shop and put it on a lift to verify all the serial numbers and pull a history/ report on the vehicle. When that officer came back with my certificate for registration, he asked me what I knew about the car? I told him not much other than I bought it from the old lady whose husband purchased it and then died. And what he told me next shocked me. He said it was a very early 89 mustang. Low production number. Also, it came with some special package that was only available on 100 cars that were produced in 89. He asked me if I knew the value of the car? I said... $3,500? He said more like $30K. Really? And his justification was the rarity of the car from Ford in 89. He then said, don’t park this car on the street in LA. Keep it in a garage. And what ever you do, don’t let it out of your sight. Cause if you do, it will be stolen and will end up in Tijuana Mexico before you can blink. I listened to that advice and did what he said. However, for the life of me I don’t know enough about Fox Body mustangs to know if what that inspection officer told me was true. I have a hard time believing it because so many of these cars were produced. But, I’d like to find someone that either verify or deny that information. That would give me a good idea about how to approach any restoration projector the vehicle.
