During the late 1970s into the early 1980s I did enjoy Stephen King. And reading "IT" upon it's release, I was blown away! I loved it. But then for one reason or another I stopped enjoying his books. I still try to read him. I did read Hearts In Atlantis last year and I really did enjoy it. I have the Mercedes trilogy books but just can't get into them but I will keep trying. I am glad that you enjoy him so much. I probably feel about Louis L'amour as you feel about SK. Great video. Thanks -James

You are probably right, I like King like you like LL. Mr. Mercedes trilogy is a good read. Maybe you will enjoy them soon.

Obviously I haven’t read all of his collection works yet but this makes me yearn to read them even more now. Great list.

That is one thing I “don’t like” about doing lists on stuff I like. Makes you want to drop everything and re-read stuff…thanks Trav!

It has been years since I read some of these. The most recent I have read from this list are Blockade Billy and Mr. Harrigan's Phone. I enjoyed both. I did a search just now to see how to spell "Harrigan" for this reply & I see that they made it into a movie a couple of years ago. I might be interested in seeing that. Most of the King novella "Top" lists have "The Body" among the entries, I was expecting it here too! The only one from your list that I have read and NOT particularly enjoyed was "The Langoliers", but I can't actually tell you why. It's been too long ago! One thing that occurred to me as I listened to your respect of King as a writer is that I know that we discussed once that you found his recent penchant for inserting political views into his works to be off-putting. What impresses me is that you are able to disagree with that, but still recognize his writing talent and enjoy it. It makes me admire and respect you as a reader/reviewer. I wish more people could disagree but still see the good. I hope that made sense!

First off, awesome comment/post! Love not only the thoughts shared but also the time spent crafting it. Respect! ✊ Secondly, they did an adaptation of Mr. Harrigan’s Phone that I believe was on Netflix. I enjoyed it, as I enjoyed the Novella. The Body is a great pic, and The Langoliers is a weird one. I think I just connected with it over some of the others. 1922 is a great one too, but not one I felt was in the top 10. Ask me again and the last 3-4 may be different next time. As far as my admiration of his writing cache, and overlooking his political views, it’s something I try to do out of my respect for his craft. It can be tough for others, myself included, but I try to take it in stride. Thanks again for a great comment!

Ohh I haven’t read any of his novellas yet but they all sound way creepier than his full novels haha
