Three top tips for people visiting the Lake District. 1. Keswick is pronounced "Kezzik" 2. Kendal Mint Cake is not cake ! Get over it. 3. Beatrix Potter was NOT Harry's grandmother.

Thanks. We visited Kendal. not had the mint-cake since i were a kid :) Kendal was a lovely place. The castle was pretty nice, but a leg buster after we had been walking up hills all day. A fantastic place to visit just before sunset!

Also worth noting that walk doesn't have any shops until the end, so take plenty of water

Hi, sorry as my wife brought to my attention that i answered the question incorrectly. i thought it was a comment on a different video... my bad!! Ambleside would probably be my choice. Bowness has a train-station and then you can hop on the boats upto Ambleside. I find it prettier than bowness and it makes a good hub for the lake district. Plenty to do in the area and seems to have good bus links too. I tend to choose to stay their when i visited in the past.
