Aloha! For the manta rays, are they like in a secluded area or is it in open space in the ocean? Will be visiting Big Island but kind of sketched about sharks at nighttime

You can go to the outrigger on the kona side for a free manta ray viewing. Grab a drink at the bar and head down to the waterfront. They have spotlights on the water. Some were getting within 15-20' from shore. Over the course of 1 hour I saw 7 or 8. It was awesome.

is it really free? it looks like you have to book a tour
@jaketaylor6747

@@butnutter you can go through the outrigger and sit seaside for free. No cost, no charge. The manta boats are 60'-200' out. The manta rays come and feed just off shore in the floodlights from the hotel. No tour needed you can sit relax and watch them feed right off shore in illuminated water. You can buy a drink from the bar if you so choose.

My Husband and I went to the big Island in 2012 for our wedding anniversary. My Husband wanted to see the lava flow. It stopped a week before we got there. We still had a great time . We are coming back in February 2024 can't wait! Hopefully we will see a lava flow. And also go see where the natural hot tub we went to that is now covered up by lava. And the green lake that is not a lake anymore. Thanks for this video it is helping us plan our trip.

you may be in for a surprise then, me and my friend are going the middle of February and hopefully she goes by then. It’s a yellow level advisory and showing major tilt, more so than any seen sense 2018 when it had a pretty big eruption adding 700 acres of land.

Hi ! My husband and I will be travelling to hawaii in the summer! We found your video the most helpful out of all the videos we saw, mahalo for this ! We were planning to visit the volcano park on our own, but the point of vue you have given we think we would maximise our chances of seeing lava with an experienced guide. I have looked into the excursion of your link, but I found no way of booking only for the lava tour part (beaches, craters, coffee farms, etc. are always included in the price). As a local and by any chance, would you know anyone (private or group) that does the lava excursion for a decent price ? Mahalo for your help :)

I dunno! I've lived on the Big Island (Hawaii Island) for 35 years with numerous short stays on Maui, Lanai, Oahu and Kauai. So many of the landscapes you show in this video seem to be from islands other than the Big Island. The red dirt, the dramatic needles and valleys -- we just don't have that kind of topology here that I am aware of. Great video content; I'm just not sure how authentic it is in terms of Hawaii Island.

Talk about a "soft core" SALES PITCH!!! ... Honestly, this is all very familiar stuff for visiting the Big Island. No "hidden gems" or "off the beaten path" offerings. Rather, it's a compendium of "sales pitches" for different, expensive activities ... for the which I am confident that our host gets his share for marketing them. Sorry, but the verdict on this video is ... KA-CHING!!! $$$$$

The most I would tell any tourist is to go do the tourist trap things created to take their money. I don't give away any locals secrets and nobody should. Having the worst humans in the world showing up at local spots is why the locals hate haoles so much. I am not a local, but I have been going to Hawaii for so long that I can spot a tourist and local a mile away. The more I am around locals the worse I feel for them, the more I am around tourists, the more I cannot stand being around them either.
