Congratulations, I remember when in 99 that body style came out and everyone was wondering if the 5.3 would be a high mileage motor. Gm trucks were a big deal when I was a kid in the 90s I grew up in Genesee County Michigan I was about 4 miles out of flint. So gm products I had about 9 family members working for gm and a bunch retired. It was god family gm trucks or hot rods. I talked my brother n law into buying a 2001 GMC Sierra with 243,000 he was apprehensive but it was only 1700$ he had the truck 4 years with 400,000 something now. I hope you get to 1million plus

@Deveak

When it finally goes, rebuild it. Inline 300s are the gold standard of truck engines. It’s equal or in most cases superior to most diesel engines. 700k is possible with good maintenance, a million if you’re religious about it. A mild engine flush is a good idea and make sure to keep up on coolant, water pumps etc. timing gears should never need touched, a huge reliability boon. Also clean the throttle body out and replace the pcv.

I just recently sold my 06 f-150 that had just shy of 300k on it.... and I was lazy on the oil changes...... the transmission made it to 260k before finally going out and when I took it in to be rebuilt the shop was amazed because they said it still had the orginal fluid and filter from the factory.... had never been touched. Currently In my driveway is my 04 Silverado with 265k on it.....and I swear it's been close to a year since I changed the oil in the thing.... and it gets driven 150 miles a day. And just a month ago i picked up a 2010 f-150 platinum with the 5.4 3v with 250k on it...... but beat believe I will stay on top of oil changes on the Ford. Before this I got 243,000 plus some change out of my Dodge Dakota with a 4 cylinder, I called it my Singer sewing machine engine and after that many miles the wrist pins came loose allowing the pistons to hammer a couple of plugs flat but it went until it couldn't, no complaints from me, it served well.. I have a 97 F-150 4.6l with 250k on the clock . With that said, I think vehicles from mid 90s to mid 2000s are more reliable in general. Today’s trucks are more comfortable and techy but are less reliable. They can have that one or two more MPG alongside the problems that come with it. Good vid!

Amen! Late 90s-early 2000s were the pinnacle of reliability and longevity IMO. Gramps had a 95 Olds 88 with 3800 v6 that got 32 mpg highway and lots of get up and go! Once the EPA got involved, they ruined a lot of things, including the 3800 (series 3 of that motor only got mid 20s mpg)

I just saw a review from a 2011 ford f150 ecoboost motor and he turned 400,000 miles in it in 2020. He said coil packs were the only troublesome component he dealt with. The ecoboost issues typically stem from delaying oil changes from the manufacturers recommendations and/or using the incorrect oil viscosity.

On online mechanic said the biggest problem he sees with the Ecoboost F150's is people driving them too gently and the wastegates start to get stuck. Drive 'em hard enough to use the turbo a few times a week at least and it'll probably be fine.

@yx5979

@@5litreho it's true sometimes they can be overpriced, which all depends on the condition of the vehicle, but I don't think they're over rated, I've seen most Toyotas run in Southern Africa, mostly in really tough environments with less maintance, and they keep running, I think they're rated accordingly. So I'll keep driving my Camry and my 4runner, and I bought them used for a very good price. If you like the Ford, keep driving it!

@@5litreho I agree, somewhat. The older Tundras with the 4.7 are not overrated and overpriced especially since you can get some serious mileage (million) you don't see Ford and Chevy going that high. But I agree with you when it comes to the new Toyota trucks. They seem to have kept that reputation. I don't believe they build them like that anymore. I'll take a new F-150 over a new Tundra any day.
