This was very interesting to see, I suppose the way a building looks to those who see it regularly is always different to those who rarely (if ever) see it. I live in Manchester at the moment and I feel very similar to how you seem to about Stockholm. There are so many beautiful old gothic buildings in Manchester, sometimes all in a row, but then they are interrupted by ugly concrete slabs or 50-storey glass walls. It's a shame. That being said, though I agree with a lot of this, I think the Filmhuset is absolutely incredible. I agree that the film-strip windows don't really work, but the contrast of the concrete and the red is stunning, and as far as brutalist architecture goes, it feels very refined and delicate to me. Plus, the warmer more careful feeling of the interior is, I think, a perfect contrast to the cold, stern exterior. Brilliant video :)

I’m sorry but Norra Tornen don’t belong on this list. They are beautiful and very interesting buildings and the colour looks gorgeous when the sun hits it. But I do agree that they don’t fit the area. High rises shouldn’t be built in central Stockholm.

I just found your channel, and I enjoy a lot of the videos you’ve uploaded (among them this one and the one about the mysterious Dragon Gate). As a Stockholm citizen myself, I must say I would love to see a video where you’ve picked out a number of buildings located in Greater Stockholm where the exterior design ”don’t seem to have been in focus” at the respective times of construction. One such building I’d pick myself would be Huddinge sjukhus (Huddinge hospital). I guess they suceeded quite well with the building from a functional perspective (as a hospital), but I must say I find it’s concrete exterior design quite miserable… Thanks again for a great video! I’ll subscribe for this entertaining channel.
@ThreeStarVagabond

Thank you! And that's actually a great idea. Huddinge sjukhus is probably a place one could talk a while about - and I have a feeling that there are good examples in the suburbs in general as well. I was in Skärholmen this Friday to get my vaccine shot, and the "centrum" part is also a bit questionable from a design perspective - even though it was an amazing feat to have a covered area like way back. There might be quite a few of these interesting places - but maybe I'll limit myself to five of them so I can dig more into the history... Right now I'm trying to make use of the summer to travel around to other towns a bit more - but I'll be sure to start planning something about Greater Stockholm buildings. Thanks a bunch for the idea! :)

@@ThreeStarVagabond You’re welcome! I’m happy that you liked the idea. :) Your mentioned plan for such a video I think sounds great, and I’m sure you’ll end up with another video just as great as your previously uploaded videos. After a night’s sleep, another suggestion for a video popped up inside my head. A couple of things I understand a lot of Stockholm citizens - including myself - appreciate a lot about Stockholm, is it’s many areas with vegetation (such as Djurgården, Hagaparken and Drottningholm), but also the city’s vicinity to water, in different shapes and forms (for example lake Mälaren, lake Brunnsviken and the Djurgården Well Canal). If you like the idea of making a video/videos for these two mentioned topics, my recommendation for you is to make a similar selection as with the previous suggestion about building designs in the suburbs. For example: - Which five green areas in central Stockholm (or Greater Stockholm) do you consider ”gems”, and would really recommend visitors to experience themselves? - If you want to experience Stockholm’s water areas: which ways are the ones you would recommend visitors of Stockholm? By boat, or perhaps by taking a walk along one of Stockholm’s many lakeside footpaths? I wish you the best of luck with your future videos!

@@andreaslindh9019 Oh wow, you're a treasure trove for ideas! I like to try to incorporate some history in the videos as well, so I think I have to read up on historically significant sites as well, that are connected with the green / water areas. I was planning on doing a little bit about Stadshagen/Hornsbergs strand as it's had quite a transformation. But then again, Hammarby sjöstad has had the same... So maybe some water-connected areas that have had significant changes over the years... Hmm... I think I have to ponder it for a bit, but thanks a lot! :D
