Poland and Slovakia must be the most underrated countries in all of Europe. Bruges, Ypres, Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels... all Flemish/Belgian (and Lille back then too) cities that at a given moment in history (and all at about the same time; which says a lot about the region) were among the 10 biggest European cities and all bigger than London - somewhere between 12th and 16th century. A region this prosperous has to be filled with architectural marvels, but yes, it is quite underrated. Though, I could've added many other cities to this list myself. Like Colmar (or better Riquewihr), Rouen, Assisi, Namur, Gdansk and Krakow (which aren't that underrated) and many German (especially East and North) cities.

Belgrade is absolutely one of the most underrated in Europe. It holds not only a long history of the country, but a long European history within the city borders. It was such an important city in the history of Europe, and is sadly forgotten nowadays. So much to see, so much fantastic food, great people, and the best nightlife in the continent!!

For tourists in France I would highly recommend Montpellier, Perpignan and Grenoble. All three are wonderful and not overcrowded. In Germany you should visit the smaller cities as Freiburg, Trier, Lübeck or Augsburg. They are really worth visiting.

For me, there are only few good things about Belgrade, that are its nightlife and relatively low prices (especially alcohol). Architecture is basically gray soviet looking but even crappier (I guess from Yugoslavia) with dirty streets and you have feeling like you are in some inland Turkish city (e.g. Konya would be fair comparison). Also take no offense.. :-)

@@oumuamua12 No offence since you said "soviet" so it means you know nothing about architecture in the first place. Belgrade has very little of Soviet arch since Yugoslavia broke it's ties with Stalin in the 50's. Belgrade architecture, Yugoslavian to be exact has been made part of a permanent exhibition in MoMa in New York. And saying it's like inland Turkish city is just not based on anything since I don't believe Konya has a 19 century European city center, one of the biggest Fortresses in Europe that dates back to 3 century BC, beautiful secessionist buildings etc... So no offence but you are just wrong.

@bpeezy2254

Ukraine isn't in the EU, but I would agree. But can confirm the prices are incredible. In Kyiv, a solid local craft beer will run you ~$0.35, the Metro costs $0.08 to ride, and Ubers pretty much anywhere in the city will be less than $5. Non-studio apartments in the city center can be had for ~$20/night.

Get out of those plastic ugly serialized suburban areas made of wood/cardboard/plaster "homes" and come see how the real world is. Oh and the Vatican, shown for 10 seconds around 1:35, is in Roma and has been in Roma for 2000 years, not in Bergamo which is over 600 kilometers away.
