@@HochgeborenKlown but we, the consumers keep them in business. If everyone stopped eating fast all in one day, farm would crop up all over the place and fast. We would eat like I used to. Grow veggies in our backyard, buy fruit from the fruit stand, buy meat from the butcher, and Mom baked bread. We also had citrus trees, peach, kumquat and apricot. I grew up on non-GMO, no pesticides, no Monsanto, grass fed beef and milk fresh from the dairy delivered to our porch. And we lived in the suburbs! We weren't on some farm somewhere.

After gaining a lot of weight and having serious cravings for fast food, I am convinced that fast food has been specifically created for us to crave. They have teams of scientists who understand what makes us crave foods. And they make these foods and sell them cheap. Add that to the fact that fast food is basically everywhere, I am not surprised I craved it so much. I have lost 20lbs and changed how I eat.

Indeed, companies make food addictive, but unfortunately it's not rocket science, just basic science. Our bodies have a genetic disposition to crave high calorie foods so we crave sugar and fat. A little more complicated than that, but basically. Want to make people love your home made cookies? Add a bit more sugar and butter.

You’re exactly right. Fast food boosts dopamine, which in itself is addictive. The fast food industry is a stroke of evil genius for many reasons. I am aware of how different recipes are from the USA compared to where I live in the UK. These are my general opinions on each entry: I have a soft spot for Pop Tarts but I only buy them a couple of times a year. Cheese fries are great as a special treat when you use actual cheese and not cheese sauce. I have never eaten a savoury pretzel. The bleached flour is a complete mystery to me. I don't eat hot dogs. Coffee creamer is irrelevant as I don't drink coffee. I buy cereal even less than Pop Tarts. Frozen meals are fine once in a while but batch cooking then defrosting the portions while I'm at work to be heated when I get home is healthier and more satisfying. Fried foods, like cheese fries, are great as an occasional treat. I very rarely drink sugary soda; I treat them more like energy drinks.

I have one question as far as the last four items on this list: Where were these warnings back in the 1970s when there were advertisements on the television screen pushing the products on us? Us, meaning those of us who are from Generation X. When we were growing up, no one warned us of how bad these items were or how unhealthy they were. During the 70s and 80s, things like trans-fat and other chemicals were not even mentioned on the news, but there were commercials for them all over the television screen. Some of us were guilty of eating the sugar cereals; especially while we were watching Saturday morning cartoons. I was one of those Gen-X kids who was doing that every Saturday morning with my cousins in the 70s. It was nostalgic, but now we see that our nostalgia is not healthy in today's society.

Same. I'm not the most healthy conscious person but these foods make me want to eat a salad and go for a run

@@DavidJohnson-mv2cy for real. I get frustrated seeing the scale say 130. That's legitimately too heavy for my size. If I gain any more I'm going to have to go on a strict diet. My back and knees already hurt. I can't imagine being so heavy that I couldn't even walk.

Growing up my parents would occasionally get pop tarts and only let us eat them after dinner. Wheatie’s was our go to cereal when it wasn’t oatmeal.

Grew up on Pop Tarts, then Canada took it off the shelves. I just tried them again for the first time in 10 years… Nasty

Listen, im still going to eat/drink all these but ill do it in moderation. Which I feel like most people lack here in the US. Like, not going to eat fried food, hotdogs, etc. every day. Those are more like treats. Key is moderation, that's all.

I just drink one bottle of zero sugar Mountain Dew a day for dinner since I drink water most of the day.
