Bro your videos are awesome ever since I caught this Oklahoma brown I notice different stuff it does all the time like here recently it just started digging out it’s hide and the side of the enclosure and has been preening here and there also it’s been like shoving it’s but in the substrate in random spots is that something to watch? Or just doing it’s own thing I know it sounds dumb but I just want to make sure it’s nothing to worry about

I want to take a moment to thank Richard for all he does for the hobby. He is a guiding light for keepers everywhere. The humility, honesty and commitment for truth is something we should all aspire to in the care of these animals. Never forget that T's are in our care not as pets but almost as miniature exhibits.

Learning the difference between "hunker/hiding beneath the knees" and "death curl" really helped me relax a lot. The first time I rehoused a T, it immediately went into "hunker" and stayed for almost 24 hours and I was in such a state, but I looked it up on a forum and was able to reassure myself of what I was looking at. The T eventually realized he was safe and promptly bulldozed his whole new enclosure into something he was happy with, a process I really enjoy watching. Thanks for the tips!

Many of my T's even arboreals will seal their web/burrow/whatever their living situation up to two weeks before they molt. They usually open it up a couple of days later. Some of my terrestrial T's that sit out in the open just molt in the open. But whenever I see a sealed living space I usually expect a molt.

So far all my Girls will molt in their burrows. But they are tidy lil' ladies and they bring the molt out in the open when they're good, dry and hardened put. It's hilarious to see them walk around with their old coat and chuck it in a corner. I swear my Grammostola Pulchra Legsi was rubbing her padipalps like she was rubbing her hands: "a job well done". They're so cute. My Legsi is also an avid decorator. She'll piddle-paddle around with clumps of substrate, padding it into place when she lays it down. I can watch her for hours. It's adorable.

Richard, Thank you for all the content. I've discovered you fairly recently and as I mentioned before I am strongly considering getting into the hobby. I thought about it in my high school days there just wasn't enough information available at that time to be a totally responsible keeper. Ok...I dunno if this is a thing, but my G. pulchra has been hiding in their barricaded burrow for the 12312 months. (its actually 4 months) I assume this is because they're about to go into pre-molt. They're booty is still plump as a grape, but a few days they came out of their burrow which I assume they want something to eat, drink water or that the weather changes, because it became much warmer here in CA. So I assume this has something to do with their levels of activity? So, I tried to see if they will eat, and to my surprised they still were responding to food I give them. They are about an inch in half. I know keepers differ in their husbandry and observations but I thought I'd share!

#9 My O. violaceopes drives me nuts when she climbs. She's a big girl in a tall 20" enclosure and she's constantly climbing across the ceiling. Every now and then I hear a 'thud' when she falls, but she basically just sits there for a few seconds then proceeds to climb back up the glass. As if being goddess of jump scares wasn't enough, she's got to worry me with her crazy 'acrobatics' too!

7:28... I have a G. pulchripes and she's a tiny sling about 1/2"... her enclosure rarely looks the same from day to day. As soon as the lights go out, she gets busy bulldozing. It's actually adorable, lol. I have an unknown species, and over the last weekend, she completely sealed up the entrance to her cork bark hide. I figured she was going into premolt. Webbing, dirt, sphagnum moss, she really did a number on it... but... this morning I found a web tunnel way in the back corner of her enclosure. Seems like the entrance/exit I created for her wasn't to her liking and she's created her own "back door"... I'll get the night vision camera setup tonight and see if she does the "I'm hungry" peeking out. This is why we love tarantulas ! You just stare and wonder "what's going on in that little head of yours ?".

I'm surprised at how much I knew when you went down this list. I guess it's different when it's your first tarantula. I were always into my reading more in my younger days, so any research were the library, or books from a store. When you mentioned about a tarantula moving it's enclosure contents about, I remember watching one of mine doing that, and found it interesting. You don't expect them to do something like that, and being one of my early tarantulas too over 20 years ago. Anyway cool video and it's nice to see what other people have found strange, yet it's so normal to a tarantula.

I got a female rosehair turantula from one of my upstairs neighbors about a month ago. Apparently she was used to being handled up there but im not too sure im ready for that yet. Anyways, the first couple days she tried to push her enclosure lid off, when that didn't work she pretended to be stuck on the lid. I say pretended because there was nothing for her to be stuck on there (the edges of the lid are completely flat, there's about half an inch to the airholes) she just kinda went sideways with one of her legs slightly out of view and wiggled a couple of her legs on the opposite side. She doesn't do that now so I think I can safely assume that nothing is actually wrong but I just thought I'd share.

I tried full size tiny tiny meal worms and cut up meal worms as that's all I have right now but won't touch them. I will get pinhead crickets today and try again. If not, it's either on a hunger strike, stressed, or something is wrong. I had it delivered from another city so it didn't go through the shipping process. I don't know what's happened and it makes me sad :(

Hey! Had a 2:00 am wake-up last night from my kid to get a "big" spider out of the house...It was small. It really seemed like it was a baby (tarantula) that got lost. I went to put a clear cup over it and it shrank back into the corner, as I slid paper under it to pick it up & I swear it pretended to faint & lay on it's side! As I picked it up, the paper moved a little & it jumped up on all 8! If it weren't wild-I'd have enjoyed this critter-SO much❤. I took it outside and let it go. We talked very softly to it the whole time, trying to get it to relax-but how could it? Poor thing! Anyways-just wondered if that is normal for tarantulas or did I have something else that just looks similar--also--it squished itself as flat as possible when we first found it--is that tarantula behavior?
