The Vikings are the biggest choke ever. Not just season wise but playoffs. 1987 NFC Championship: Dropped the ball at the goal line- Redskins go on to win the Super Bowl. 1998 NFC Championship: Gary Andersen missed his first kick in 2 years and blew a 7 point lead with only minutes left. 2009 NFC Confrence Championship : Brett Favre gets picked off in field goal range with seconds left on the clock. Saints win in overtime. Also there have been 2 years we have went at least 5-0 and missed the playoffs 2015 Wild Card: Blair Walsh misses a kick losing to Seattle 9-10 2018 Playoffs: We blew a 17 point lead and we were lucky to get out of that game alive and the proceeded to lose 31 to the Eagles Also we traded our entire future for ONE PLAYER. Which gave the Cowboys their dynasty. And can't forget losing 4 super bowls in the 70s Edit: Also we haven't had a franchise QB since the 70s. Every Quarterback we either trade, is a guy like Tavaris Jackson, Christian Ponder, or Mat Cassel, gets injured, or is some QB in his last seasons (looking at you Favre and Cunningham). P.S: It hasn't been all that bad... one year we made the playoffs at 8-8 and beat the Packers in the Wild Card game and Randy Moss mooned the fans and Lambeau. Now THAT was awesome

When the 2008 Jets upset the Titans and Patriots. The Red Flag came for the Jets when they lost in Week 16 to a 3-11 Seahawks Team
@Gungho73
Ай бұрын
And as a Seahawks fan, that Seattle team was comprised of a pocket of older players playing out the end of their rope, happily taking that paycheck, that had no right having starting roles and a bunch of young players with almost no leadership around them. The leadership that would later show up for the early Pete Carroll years like Red Bryant, they were young and unable to get their opinions raised. Matt Hasselbeck arguably was at his darkest in his Seattle tenure. This was the era, hard to remember for younger fans, where the NFC West was arguably the NFC Worst. And Seattle was still terribad in spite of that. It didnt surprise me Mike Holmgren left following that. There was a huge rebuild effort incoming. For the Jets to have lost to that team, as talented as they seemed at one point in the season, said everything about that collapse for Jets fans.

This is revisionist history. They talk about the punter being hurt. But ignore that Romo, Marion Barber, Felix Jones missed games during important stretches of that season. The only reason that season is called a collapse is because of that final game in Philly.

@@michaelscott4909 You are certainly right sir. The Saints have choked away many games over the years. So many that it's hard to recall them. But the Atlanta Falcons did something so truly historical that it will never be forgotten. Leading 28-3 with only 21 minutes left to play in one of the most watched sporting events in the world, they choked in historically epic fashion. A choke for the record books. A choke that may never be topped. 28-3 goes down, not just in football history, but in sports history. The average NFL fan may have already forgotten that the Saints won a Super Bowl, but no one will ever forget the epic, 28-3, total collapse and utter failure of the Atlanta Falcons. It was, the most watched and biggest choke of all time. And you guys will forever own that, and no one will ever top it. Congrats.

Plain and simple. The best way to avoid a collapse: TAKE. CARE. OF. YOUR. BUSINESS. 08 Cowboys were eliminated in the final game. Two of their seven losses were to mediocre Washington and 2-14 St. Louis. No excuses. 18 Steelers lost to the hopeless Raiders who were doing everything they could to disappoint and were eliminated in the final week of the season. No excuses.

Believe me, as a Steelers fan, I KNOW. The team certainly loves to make everything harder than it needs to be. The Raiders loss came after blowing a 3 posession lead against the LA Chargers...which came after snatching defeat from the Jaws of Victory.

Theismann, post retirement said he was frustrated waiting for Billy Kilmer to retire. Kilmer responded by saying "Maybe he was the reason I hung around so long." Two very different personnas, leadership styles. Kilmer was the ultimate winning ugly QB, Theismann a self-proclaimed diva. In 1978, the Redskins collapse was so brutal, even I, a Cowboy fan, felt sorry for them, partially because I kept wrongly picking Washington in weekly football pools.
@Hexon66

Except Kilmer never did win anything. And in DC, even though Theismann has the ring, neither he nor Kilmer will _ever_ be as beloved as Sonny Jurgensen. He was throwing like Mahomes a quarter century before Patrick was even born. It's only George Allen who doomed the teams in the 70s saddling them with Kilmer, all because he hated Jurgensen, even though he was the far superior QB.

2002 Saints. Beat the eventual Super Bowl champs Bucs twice that year. They were 9-4 and needed to win 1 more game out of the last 3 to make the playoffs. All 3 losses were to losing teams. The Vikings 6-10. The Bengals who were 1-13 when they played them and the Panthers who finished 7-9. The Saints had the 3rd highest scoring offense in the league that season and lost 10-6 to the Panthers. Also started off 6-1 with the 1 loss coming against the unstoppable juggernaut known as the Detroit Lions who took the league by storm that year with a 3-13 record. The 2002 Saints were the definition of playing down to your competition. Also beat the Packers, 49ers and Steelers who all won their division. 12 teams made the playoffs and they beat 4 of them so that’s 1/3 of the playoff teams. Now that is a COLLAPSE but oh well… WHO DAT ⚜️
