@@r.michaelburns112 I mean, to each their own. The psychedelic experience is subjective, of course. It feels very intentionally inspired by late 60s psychedelia to me. From the moody macrophotography, the set pieces (including the geodesic dome laboratory that glows from the ant-constructed obelisks emitting concentrated sunlight), to the far-out scanimation overlay effects, the extremely cryptic and surreal ending sequence, the Pink Floyd-esque synth-heavy soundtrack to the entire premise of ants turning into intelligent creatures from some vague cosmic phenomenon, to the way that the scientists discover communicating with ants via channeling/amplifying frequencies.

While not all psychedelic movies, I did "put the pieces together" to connect a few films during a psychedelic experience. This playlist does not represent reality but is a personal mythology that was unintended my the films various creators; 0th - Absentia 1st - Coherence 2rd - The Endless 3th - The Void The idea of "other spaces" is explored in Absentia so I added it to the list but it is not connected to anything from space or an extra-dimensional deity like the other three. The way I tie the films together is that a group of people who realise the splitting of dimensions from the events in Coherence gather together to form a cult in The Endless. However, it is not the only cult, nor did the characters escape the deity's ultimate machinations. The cults around the world start coming together as directed by the deity to horrific effect as seen in The Void.

OF the choices you made that I've seen, I like them all. I'll have to check the rest out. It's interesting how so many of these are modern movies returning to the style of the 70s and 80s - they seem to recognize that CGI is overused and overrated. "Liquid Sky" would be a worthwhile addition. While it often drags through the use of performance art, it's much better once you realize your boredom with the performance art is the director's attempt to show how bored the characters are with their own lives. It's actually a very good replication of the 80s NYC art and drug scene, with wanna-be Warhols trying to duplicate his lifestyle, but only being drug addicts. Then it gets weird - really weird. The effects are laughably bad, but work. CAUTION: If you don't like swearing or simulated sex, this isn't for you.
