@@SirsasthNigam. Though I agree a scene for scene remake would be an unrealistic expectation, season 1 also spread itself thin. We're exploring too many characters and lore at once. 10h isn't enough for Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Iroh and Azula to be explored equally, whilst also still having a story that doesn't feel rushed and on top of that they dive into the lore very heavily, with the start of the war shown in more detail, we get to meet three Avatar's, albeit briefly. the most surprising change in my opinion is the character differences between bumi, ozai and azula. Bumi in the original gave aang tough love and lessons out of respect and love for his friend. but in the live action, he was salty and bitter about how his friend seemingly abandoned them all. the dynamic of their friendship was really awkward to me. Ozai had a major chains in the fact that he actually cared and showed interested in zuko. while in the original he never liked or even thought zuko was really his own. going as far as willing to kill zuko much earlier in his life but zuko's mother gave up her life to spare zuko. as for Azula, she is no longer the perfect child, it seems like shes still learning to get her blue flame, and only just learned lighting bending. in the original she never had to prove herself, she was over confident and cocky through out. but in this, she clearly shows daddy issues and trying to win his approval and has a chip on her shoulder and is constantly angry

Ozai never actually cared about Zuko. I mean, he did placed expectations on him and maybe hoped that he would become the successor he wanted him to be... but the reality is that Ozai was quick to realize that Zuko would never become the ruthless successor he tried to groom out of him, so he used him as motivation for Azula. You can see how he points out to Azula that her brother did the impossible and how he kept putting her through pointless training drills just to bring up all her potential. And when he listened to Azula's suggestion in supporting Zhao was precisely to both foil Zuko's efforts and to create a distraction for the conquering of Omashu... a mission he gave to Azula. And let's not forget how he surrounded Zuko of reminders of his failure as a way to torment him: his scar, his crew... A father that actually cared about his son would never have done what Ozai did to Zuko.

Zuko has compassion even for a sworn enemy and Zhao being so proud he'd rather die than accept help from someone he doesn't respect, and live on after he's seen his the strategy that was supposed to make him a legend of history has spectacularly failed... but instead Iroh just yeets him off a bridge.

They changed a lot of the storylines and tbh I hate it. Aang and Katara not learning water bending in the north really angered me because how are they supposed to get better? How does that help Pakku character development? Why are Sokka and Katara allowed to be in the spirit world!? WHY ONLY 8 EPISODES! They had all the source material and changed so much. THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER! Why change character flaws so early when they can have time to change for the better (Sokka) Why won’t Katara talk about her mom as much. Why is azula here! I can see why the creators left. I get that making changes makes a show interesting but when you change too much, it changes the story, it changes the shows meaning. Why does Zuko seem more sad than angry. Anger, in the first two seasons, is reason why his fire bending is so powerful. They shouldn’t make a season two if they can’t keep the life of the story. Also, where the hell is Haru?! Not only is this a story about the avatar, but it’s also a story about the people being brought together saving their home and their people. Hope.

What's up with Aang not bending a drop of water the entire season? and why doesn't katara need a master? she is her own master? in the original, she was self-thought and she was so so so mad at Pakku for not wanting to teach her but she still convinced him to teach her. but in this one she is her own master and she doesn't need any experienced waterbender's help to learn more? why? coz girl power? WTF...and why was Zuko so watered down? It felt like Zuko from the end of season 2 where he is finally accepting that his honor doesn't only lie in capturing the avatar. Zuko needed to be a lot more of an asshole for the 1st season. And why there is so little of roku in the entire season? Roku felt responsible for the War as Sozen was his friend and he has ignored Sozen's action when he was alive. he felt responsible for the 100-year war. This is also totally missing from the show. There is so much about this show I did not like...I really wanted to...I love the original series so much....when the trailer finally dropped I may have seen it 30 times straight. I did love some changes, though. I loved that Ang met Monk Gyatso in the spirit world. That made sense. Visuals, hand-to-hand combat, and bending were not that bad. Bhumis being mad at Aang also made sense. 6/10 from me. Despite this, I am looking forward to season two and I know they will change a lot but I hope they understand the heart of the show and deliver a better season 2.

I know a lot of people are saying that the show does not compare to the original animated series. To be honest, I completely get that, but animation has no limits because they’re able to do everything for the show and the characters don’t age. In the live action, it takes more effort plus of course a few pot point of going to have to change a little bit to accommodate the fact that humans get older animation characters, don’t have to age. As a fan of the original series, I will be honest. I do think it is better but this live action series I love it more than I thought I would. I honestly cannot wait to see where they go from this. As a true fan of the series, you wouldn’t be complaining about this live action (adaptation) as you should know a few liberties half to be given. Everyone needs to chill and show some respect to the hard work that everyone in this first season has put in. I give it a 9/10. It’s not perfect, but found it extremely enjoyable. Please, everyone don’t be toxic and enjoy the show for what it is. A great adaptation of a children’s CARTOON and bringing it as close as possible to real life.

To be fair, this is only the first season, it is bound to have some rough edges that can be improved upon. If the show ever gets a second season, they might show (at least) a montage of him learning some waterbending, or perhaps really focuses on learning it once he finds out about the comet. He will encounter Toph later on anyway, so I don't see why he can't learn both water and earthbending in season 2. Remember, in the animated series, he technically didn't really master all 4 elements by the time he defeated the Fire Lord. If anything, it would be more accurate to say he, at the very least, mastered the fundamentals of each element other than air.

So, Azula and Zhao are in the same season in the new series, whereas Azula basically replaced Zhao at the end of Book 1 in the original series. Iroh would never have the heart to kill anyone no matter how evil they were unless he had no other choice. Even in the awful 2010 film, he didn't really kill anyone. I guess this was their way of cramming as much of the first 2 seasons into one as possible. The arrival of the comet will not happen the same way as in the OG series, since it would not be practical to do that with a cast of young actors that will grow up during the filming of the live-action series. The comet will still come, but it may take longer than in the series... perhaps a year or two. This will give Aang the necessary time to learn the remaining bendings, being why they didn't force that on him on this season.

And they also honor the source material with some its quirkiest lines from "my cabbages!😂" and the iconic qoutes of Iroh, as well as the Katara's narration in the opening which is now delivered by Gran-Gran in the first episode.

@@diegopansini3152 Have you ever read The Search graphic novel? There is a reason why Azula deserve a redemption arc. While Ursa should of disciplined her as any mother should of, her only regret is that she didn't give her daughter the same kind of love as she did with Zuko.

@a.jthomas6132 Didn't Azula get over that by Shadow and Fire and started up a child abducting cult filled escaped mental patients? Personally, I don't see Azula getting any sort of redemption where she starts getting along with everybody, including her family. Maybe she can finally realize she has issues and maybe to showcase this, she gives up her life to save her brother and either dies, or is believed dead by everyone and Azula uses this to go into some sort of self imposed exile, but not a full on redemption where she can make up with all of her enemies and her former friends.

I would rate the live action a 7 out of 10. However, I have reservations about the portrayals of Azula, Mai, Ty Lee, Bumi, Zhao, and Roku. Azula losing control was a departure from the original series. It's also worth noting that Aang channeled Kyoshi instead of Roku, which deviated from the source material. Despite these issues, I find the rest of the characters either good or at least bearable. Zuko remains my favorite from the animated series, while Sokka stands out in the live action. When viewed independently of the cartoon, the live action is quite enjoyable, particularly with the 41st division becoming Zuko's crew, a positive change. I appreciate Yue's skills in the live action, although her appearance feels somewhat like a cosplayer compared to the terrible 2010 movie. Nevertheless, I like that Netflix's Yue cannot be forced into marriage, and the positive depiction of Han. The portrayal of airbenders showcasing their abilities, especially the air nomads fighting fire benders, was impressive. While Wan Shi Tong's kindness is unexpected, his design is commendable. Koh may not be as scary, but the shock factor is appreciated. The replacement of Oyaji with a female mayor seems forced, leaning towards feminism, which might not resonate well. Katara becoming a master without proper training is a stretch. Suki's portrayal was okay. Ozai's, actually, made sense. Iroh was bearable. The Kyoshi actress delivered a good performance, though the shouting deviated from Kyoshi's character, similar to Azula's portrayal, which remains disappointing.

I hated the part that Pakku didn't train Katara, you can't learn those advanced skills on your own. Since bending centers around each martial art this is a bit of a peeve.

You forgot several crucial changes: more developed Suki, absence of Sokka's gender inequality, more Zuko and Iroh connection and most importantly no 'Kang' (Katara and Aang's romance hints, which I hope there will be in later seasons)

First i never really expected a full one to one recreation of the og in live action as that would make no sense and because that would be a tragedy to the original show. Im happy with some of the changes as it makes the war more relevant with spies, terror attacks and allows for grittier scenes. And i think it makes the traveling more realistic andthe urgency of learning the other elements

Albert Kim-"Well, there’s certain things you can draw that when you’re trying to translate in live-action are incredibly complicated, both practically and financially," he said. "There are so many epic sequences in the original series that I wish we could have done, but it would have just broken the bank many times over. The Northern Air Temple episode of the first season is a finale in itself, and if we had tried to do that we would be blowing all the resources right there. So, we had to pick and the toughest part of this process was deciding what to leave behind - and I’m sure there will be fans who are not happy that they didn’t get their favorite episodes and their favorite characters, and all I can say is it pains me too." He added, "I wish we could have done all of them, but there’s the reality of creating eight-hour-long episodes for a serialized drama and also expanding the world in places and telling new parts of the story that hadn’t been told before. That takes up time. I think people think it’s as easy as saying, 'Well there are 20 half-hour episodes of the original. That’s 10 hours. And there are eight one-hour episodes of the new show, so they only needed to make two more episodes.' But it’s not exactly one-to-one there, so that was the process we went through."

Netflix need to fix : 1. AZULA needed to he more sassy and evil. 2. Firelord Ozai got sympathy . we need that gone and make him more shader darker version more mean . 3. i wont tell you how stupid it is to see Azula team is whiping off Her ass, i mean . TaiLee isnt hyped and energetic , just the voice . MeiLee too pleasing than emo girl . 4. i love the transcend State , but if you trying to change a bit from the cartoon and remake the plot, please do it with sincere . too many key plots were destroy . where's the metal island rebels , the sky warrior base and how sokka invented the hot air baloon . oh yeah , forgot about Avatar Roku Dragon scene . 5. we didnt even see , Aang Train waterbending for the whole scene . hopefully Book 2 (S2) plot line is more immersive, coz most of the battles and epic elements fight are here

Lol..things are different on 2005. Remember Netflix doesnt allow 20 plus episodes anymore to really build up characters. Back in the day, this live action series could've literally copied the animated series. However, due to the limited episodes allotted, short cuts needed to be taken. With that said, I think they did a FANASTIC job and after the movie was a FLOP, this makes up for it in spades, thanks to Netflix and Nickelodeon.

The thing that is great about this show is its telling the exact same story with the exact same focal points and story arches but tiny changes that in the big picture make little difference to the overall story while keeping all the important scenes almost identical.

Obviously, this is a much better version than the movie. The casting and how they pronounce their names immediately make it a better adaptation. One thing that I do wish is that they either made more episodes or didn't cover the entirety of Book One. I feel like you lose some of the character-building and such when it's cut down from 20 episodes to just 8.

compared to shyamalan's, this is way better. but compared to the animated series, this is still crap and ridiculous, some scenes are even cringey. im not expecting an 1:1 adaptation, but so many things are waay off, many points of the story are missing. holy crap they even butchered iroh's character, less wisdom, less fierce. i dont know how will they gonna develop him in the future, but i dont think we'll gonna have 'the tales of ba sing se' gems out of him.

Overall I enjoyed it and want it to continue. Some of the changes were great. Attack on Air Nomads, Kiyoshi unleased. And I like the generally more mature tone given this is a world at war, and the significantly higher age rating of the adaptation. Moving the inventor to Omashu was good streamlining. But some changes were completely stupid. Why bother paying extra for the salaries to cast Azula and her cohort given how pointless their plot was? Why move so many events from season 2 into the first season? Suki uncovering her face kills her season 2 joke. Bumi already revealing his identity before testing Aang kills some of the joy of that episode and just makes it cruel. I get why they skirted around the love in the tunnel thing given the greater age difference between Aang's and Katara's actors, but there could be so many other ways to show love without any PDA.
