True Story: I arrived to the showing of The Sixth Sense late, I say 5-10 mins into the movie after Bruce Willis character got shot. So throughout me watching the movie I never saw that take place, not understanding the magnitude that action had on the totality of the movie. So sufficient to say when the reveal came that Bruce was indeed a ghost, I was not gasping or in complete shock like every other patron in the theater. Not till years later when I bought the movie on dvd, did I realize I fucked up on experiencing one of the best movie twist in history.

Not my favorite movie but Samuel L. Jackson getting devoured by a shark out of nowhere in "Deep Blue Sea," was well done and very unexpected. The Sixth Sense ending was a doozy. Once you watch it again it makes sense. Cole says it himself to Dr. Crowe. "I see dead people...They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead." The viewer the first time just assumes Malcolm survived the shooting and he and his wife aren't speaking to each other due to marital trouble.

Evelyn Gardner in A League of Their Own(it is off screen but her son explaining what happened is what made it poignant) Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi, Hooch's death in Turner and Hooch, Johnny Cage's death in Mortal Kombat Annhilation and Jessica Rothe's deaths in Happy Death Day 2u.
