Microsoft recently announced that they will be doing the same thing Qubes OS does but within windows. And they will be implementing RUST Language, to replace most of the microsoft language in the operating system. I still don't trust microsoft and will remain in Linux, but just wanted to give heads up. 🤷♀💀👀

I don't know the outcome, but it was talked about on the Linux-experiment channel. so be careful... some governments don't like US privacy tech in their borders... they will think you're guilty before innocent... it ain't like the US. i use Qubes every day and i love it. it does take a little while to get used to, but i was coming from windows. might be easier for those already more familiar with linux systems. it's really not something that is only for advanced users. the nice thing is that you can make as much use of what it offers as you need. personally i am nowhere near taking advantage of the full potential, but i am learning more all the time. it's a very powerful tool with great defaults. i clone the debian template and turn it into kicksecure as my general purpose use Qube.

I would love it if you could make an updated video on mobile privacy and where things stand at the moment. After your video and Louis Rossmann's video on the GrapheneOS drama I just can't trust that as an option anymore. And honestly, I realise how limited the mobile space is for privacy, security, and overall control over your data. I don't think Linux phones are even close to being usable, and I don't really trust any other ROMs since I've heard mixed opinions on all of them. So what are we left with in the end? A video on this would be very useful.

There is no such thing as privacy on a phone. Even if you take out the sim card on the phone and turn it off, cell towers can still track you. I would say buy you a Faraday bag then put the phone inside there and drive to an undisclosed location and after you get done doing your work put your phone inside the Faraday bag.

@@Mr.ChadRodriguez It was not mentioned specifically in that article, but from what I can tell, the defendants in question seemed to have been put on a watch list after visiting Rojava in North Eastern Syria. That started surveillance under the presupposition that upon return they would be essentially "up to no good". Surveillance continued over the course of about 10 months which then led to arrests. Which I think was done only on the basis of them using envcyption and other privacy practices. There doesn't seem to be any other evidence otherwise it would've been mentioned in court case.

I think you are assuming a bit too much amigo. Sometimes a bios change has to be made before a computer will boot from a USB. Can you always do this? No. Try to be a bit more realistic with your statements. You cannot automatically use TAILS on any computer, public or private. Or rateher you might be able to depending if you can redesignate what device to boot from. Not always do-able.

Parrot OS is another Linux operating system that has a focus on privacy and security, via their "anon surf" feature that funnels everything over TOR network. You can toggle that feature on and off with ease. And since the anon surf feature funnels everything through TOR network, you are protected from more than just using your web browser.

QUBES OS, is that actually an SSD installable operating system or is it just a V.M. like Tails and Whonix...?!?
@quickmythril2398

Qubes is an OS you install and boot right into. Tails is not meant to be run in a VM either, although you can, i think the idea is you carry a USB around with Tails, and you can use it on any computer, to boot into a private system that doesn't store any data, either on the computer or the USB. Whonix can also be installed directly as an OS, or can be run as a VM, and it is included as one of the VM options in Qubes to provide network over Tor for any parts of your system you want, and not just the browser.

@@i5khaled5i55 you can do something like add an app that you want to use. that way you don't have to download and install it every time. the user data wouldn't have to be persistant though, so all that would get wiped when you are done. all they would know is someone uses that app, but not who it was, or what they did.

@quickmythril2398

tails is non-persistant, meaning everything but the os is erased when it's shut down, and it resets to default effectively. that's not usually ideal for most people's regular use system. more intended for special cases, or to get online privately when away from home, etc. whonix is just for running things through Tor. for some programs, that might not be desirable. i'd say Qubes is the best for daily use. very flexible, and you can use Tor if you want (it includes Whonix), and there are "disposable Qubes" which are non-persistant like Tails. so it's more of an all around solution, that can do what the others do, plus more.

@@phillipanselmo8540 Switching back and forth would just be too annoying. A normal Linux distro goes far enough for me, and Flatpak’s sandboxing provides reasonable compartmentalization.
