Holy nation doesn't care about your sub race, they treat scorchlanders and greenlanders exactly the same. You also don't need to have holy flame on you, if you don't have a base there they wouldn't care (even if you're started as a citizen of holy nation). Men in your squad are also optional, they would only care on a prayer day if you have a base in their territory, in that case you will need a human male with holy flame in the inventory (though they can still give it to you). During my first game i was playing as a holy nation citizen female scorchlander, and after dozens of checks from guards there was no issue with my character being a female or not having a holy flame in my inventory. Even that mad priest in a starting city wouldn't cause problems if you play along with his rant (he only appears if you choose holy nation citizen start). You might need a human in your squad if you have sheks or hivers with you. Or a human male if you intend brining in some bounties, as inquisitors wouldn't talk to a woman, or you can juSt drop the body into the cage and get your money, just without reputation bonus. Also you can have prosthetics in your inventory, just don't equip them near paladins and holy servants, once you're allied you can have them equipped, only traders wouldn't talk to you.

Bad Teeth is another great starting town. One gate is on the border of Skinner's Roam where massive herds of bulls pass by, and they are easily kited to guards. The opposite gate facing inward towards Okran's Pride is frequently accosted by river raptors, which are scant looting but safe enough for training. A ruined longhouse and two shacks exist for player homes/storage, and there are at least six vendors to offload loot. The only fault is lack of a mechanics shop, but Stack and Blister Hill aren't too far away if you need more stock than the general store offers.

Squin is always my choice for a starter town. You can easily get iron plates and leather (quick run north to Vain for baiting beakthings and gorrillos into hive villages) to start to level up your smiths. Those skills take so long, I find it's best to start as soon as you can. Dr. Chung is just south of you to get your science going. Those shek ruins between admag and squin contains decent free loot, and there's free building mats and plates at the tiny settlement ruin not too far to the east. And then if you needs science books, theres the ruin in vain, the 3 in the swamp, and tons in shun all without security spiders (except for the 1 ancient lab in shun).

And you get lots of powerful Shek recruits to dress in all that fancy armor and weapons to beat every last ounce of crap out of whoever looks at you wrong before long.

Squin has a total of 4 copper nodes that are close by(with an additional 3 that are close enough to be fairly safe) and there are an additional 2 iron nodes that are close enough imho to be fairly safe. I think you're only looking at the NE part of Squin. The other nodes are 2 to the east by the ridges. 2 out the SW exit 1 on each side of the gates and the last is just a bit further to the SW...It's small so you may miss it. The additional iron nodes are to the north of the eastern exit along the road north. Kind of nuts to be able to have 12 people solely devoted to mining copper around 1 city all who are fairly safe.

After watching some of your videos on base building. I decide to get Kenshi, since I liked Rimworld it seemed similar enough. I ended up settling in Stoat. I just have very good luck with the general store in Stoat compared to Squin's. It seemed to stock fabric and leather at a higher amount. Which meant, I was able to farm armor crafting up to level 80 making leather shirts on my one character why another I hired early on mined the copper near by. Got like 100,000 cats before long and went on a recruitment spree and ancient science book hunt. With the Black Desert City so close, I was able to grab 3 AI core + good amount of ancient science books. I beeline for Tech Level 6, got even hydroponics, and now have a OP set up in Shem with my first base. I have like 8 characters between 25-45 Toughness + Combat Stats. With Flat-Lagoons so close by I got another good ancient science book boost. Overall it's been a blast! Thanks for the video!

the single best playtrough i had was in holy nation. all human squad,no grinding twards super advanced machinery or weapons and armor,no crafting prosthetics,if somebody lost a limb they became workers inside the base. just pure playtrough with an actual purpose, almost a quest to rid the planet of all non humans. it was awesome, thats also the only faction that makes sence in terms of war, when playing for sheks u dont have a real reason to fight uc,and uc shek, but as hn u can fight every major faction or minor faction and it will be lore friendly. its also way more challenging and thas always good,i tried shek playtrough and honestly i get why ppl choose them, its easy as fuck to have ur shek squad just squish all the enemies and have the most defencible cities out there so u dont have to fight them, same goes for uc with their tough armor,a lot of guards and patrools as well as a huge territory. hn is just that much easier to beat then any other factions, but since u dont have to beat them as ally u gonna have to deal with the hardest enemies in the game, not everybody can do it.

the united cities pisses me off so much and this video perfectly illustrates why. the holy nation feels autocratic. in the holy nation you feel like youre constantly looking over your shoulder and double checking yourself. the united cities feels like it runs on clown logic "oh these sustenance farmers dont have exactly the amount of money i want (which changes arbitrarily and is never forewarned to you) exactly when i want it no arrangements or arrears time to pack up and ship out you dirty peasants" this is not the logic of a state that has institutionalized corruption and allows for the widespread exploitation of its populace this is the logic of a state that is speedrunning starving itself to death. You can mine the copper for cash, then you can easily gain money by selling all the weapons from the cannibals that get killed, and level up decently fast when fighting them near town. You can also join the flotsam ninjas nearby for free. you can also sleep in beds for free and heal up at nearby ghost town.

Stoat is great, but I believe that Heng/Trader’s Edge is just superior in every single way. I mean, it has way better shops than Stoat (more cash, higher quality, etc), a Shinobi Tower, tons of great properties in both sides of the city, two bars, is very near to the Scraphouse, to sources of Ancient books and Engineering research, and basically to everything else. Moreover, it’s one of the best stealing spots ever, considering that the storage building is packed with CPUs, Leviathan pearls, etc. which can net you tens of thousands of cats every night… plus, the view is just breathtaking

I noticed something, I'm pretty sure each time you load up a new game some of the buildings in towns are randomized. So you can only purchase small shacks in my stack. going to see if any other towns do this cause now I'm curious.

You can absolutely kite the animals in Hub. You just need to drag them into the tavern and the Ninjas will roll with them. Also works for Dust Bandits. There's plenty of broken buildings for sale, and broken buildings are super cheap so that's a plus. Power generation is bad, but nothing a few small wind generator can't handle. There's unpowered hybrid stone mine if I remember correctly, so if you can get power running, you basically have a building material generator inside the city. Catun and Flats Lagoon is nearby which is great, but I can't remember if these two towns have mechanical/engineering shops, so hopefully others will fill in the blanks there. If you can somehow get Hemp Hydroponics going though, you basically have 2 options. Smuggle to Catun, or sell them to the bars and shops at Flats Lagoon. The sale of Hash is legal at Flats Lagoon, so... yeah. As for iron and or copper, that too I don't remember, but Mourn is located in the Bonefields, so it shouldn't be too hard to locate a source. The dangers outside is pretty nasty though, because Mr. Giraffe (beak things) will peck your ass and F up your day if you don't watch out. That, and boneyard wolves are stronger, bigger and faster than their regular counterpart. It is also very close to the Southern Hivers, so some strays may decide to greet you with the sharp end of their swords, but this only happens if you get too close to Greyshelf or Royal Valley. Stick to the northern area of Bonefields, and you will rarely if ever meet them. I may have missed some important details, so I'm relying on others with more knowledge on the area to fill in the blanks. Hopefully this helps though.
