Thank you, Marc, for allowing me and others to see and hear your selections and reasons. Clearly these pens have been a part of you work and life. As an aside the FPR ultra flex nib is amazing. In it's original pen, it was a joy but the pen itself was horrible. But in the Ahab it performed well. As for the 823 it is a wonderful pen but cleaning it is a chore, to say the least. The Sport is loved by many but I have not bought one, yet, so I reserve any judgement. That it can be used as an eyedropper (at least the resin body versions) is a plus.

For me, this video is one of the most accurate demonstrations of practicality, utilitarian and emotional sense of this entire series. As an artist, I have many correspondences with this appropriate selection. My luxurious pens are the scarcest in my small collection because of the little use I give them, almost exclusively in writing. On the other hand, my "all-terrain" pens, more economical, versatile and productive have a very special link with my work. Excellent video, thank you.

This fine artist is such a great online teacher. My favorite youtuber, even though I rarely use the flex pens he so loves (I've gotten rid of my Ahab, but still have my 743). Even though he is an expert realist and I'm a rather naïve abstractionist. What a broad gap to cross!

@@mkompan Ah, my question, slightly convoluted, was even wondering *within* Mahler's 7th (incidentally not anyone's favorite Mahler Symphony, unfairly or not), your favorite interpretation thereof. But yes, Bach reigns supreme! If you don't know it, may I point you to the Kurtag's playing his transcription of part of the Actus Tragicus? kzitem.info/news/bejne/1apvvGSBkKCDmW0

@@jlaurson I haven’t heard enough versions of Mahler’s 7th to have a favorite interpretation, but the Abbado version which I just heard to refresh my self was lovely. Thank you for the link to the recording! What a wonderful rendition of this cantata.

@@mkompan I find the middle movements of Abbado's Berlin recording to be the spookiest on record. Very much Nachtmusik-ish. (His Chicago recording is a popular favorite, too, so whichever you listened to, it wasn't likely a clunker. 😉) Also: ionarts.blogspot.com/2013/08/gustav-mahler-symphony-no7-part-1.html?m=1 (My past sins)

Thank you! That FA nib is exquisite, but the lack of it shouldn’t prevent you from getting back into ink drawing. Get yourself something cheap and sturdy and get going!
