I believe there are different varieties and some are benign while others are aggressive. You can find tribes that do NOT consider them “big brothers” and they’re something to be avoided. Where my parents live in the rural Midwest, they are NOT benign. We’ve had all kinds of issues and you just feel not right. My brother saw one one night when he was near the tree-line and it was over 7 foot tall.

They are in northern Ontario. Haliburton highlands region. I lived on top of one of the higher hills surrounded by kilometres of thick isolated woods. Every single night there would be communicative knocking on the surrounding trees, some far and some near. But it was consistent and intelligent. Sometimes I would knock back too, and get a response seconds later, spent years trying to figure out what that could’ve been. Considering there are no neighbours I don’t think it was any sort of prank. Don’t know what else it could’ve been

They are spirits in the forests, hence why we’ll probably never get a photo or body of one anytime soon. Good or bad, trickster spirits sometimes. People forget, this is not just a phenomenon in the Americas. It’s worldwide, going back to the forest spirits in European cultures, Germanic and Roman both have stories of wild men or forest people. Whether they’re gnomes, sprites, fairies, trolls, werewolfs, and other shapeshifters, things that just inhabit a certain territory and are territorial of an area. I can’t remember it right now but in Greco Roman mythology they had a name for spirit that lives in a space. Like possession, of a lake river or forest. My personal favorite and one I think lines up with the North America forest spirit the most, is the satyr. Half man half goat creature. It shares lots with the Bigfoot stories.

I think the issue with a lot of scientists is looking at the big foot as a fully corporal being that would interact with the surrounding ecology. Like a fully corporal big foot being a creature of that size would be notable impact on the food web. We have the concept of ecological niches - basically the behaviour, feeding, territory managment, things like that. We have a lot of ecological niches mapped out especially in US areas, so much so I'm not convinced something that big would go unnoticed if it's playing by the expected rules. Especially something humanoid that's 7 foot tall, it's difficult to guess the impact that would have but it would very noticeable. Just from that it's far easier to buy into a semi corporal big foot which coincidentally, science has nothing on!

You should investigate Tuscarawas county ohio, particularly the wooded area around the village of Zoar. I live in that area and over the last couple years, abandoned mine shafts have been reopened illegally. Noticing the sounds of equipment running at night, I began walking the county road I live on and during some of these hikes I've encountered something large enough to feel it's steps through the ground and smelling of urine so strong it made my eyes water from the ammonia odor. I don't know what it is but that and a number of other strange sightings all coincide with when the mining activity started. I would've called bullshit on all of it a couple years ago but since then I've experienced things I simply can't explain. Check it out for yourselves, you'll see what I mean.

I understand why my students sent me your channel. Every tribe has different stories, different lore, and like every single other race of humans...it changes. But unfortunately...se’sxac is our tribes lore. Sasquatch (se’sxac) is a salish name, that is where the name even comes from. Salish means "sea people", we had large whaling boats, ports, etc etc long before the Old world landed on this continent. Like I said...as a disclaimer...every tribes story is a bit different. se’sxac became so popular because we were tradesmen. Sailing from Alaska down to Northern California following the coast. A crap.ton of our traditions traveled well. Se’sxac is actually a child's story at the root. We had big nasty predators, keeping kids in the tribe limits needed to be taken seriously. The Quileute speak of it looking like a large woman, covered in Seaweed, with a backpack on her back to put the kids in. Duwamish said it was a large "brother" bringing warnings us. Tillamook believed she was just mischievous. In all cases though. It was make believe. Let me explain. Our coastal waterways were marked by totems and they are covered in animals, our clans are also named by animals, our lodges are decorated in a style we call haida. Animals meant something to us, our view of the world is in hoops, or circles, we are all connected and no animal is above any other. We have to be caretakers, so they can take care of us. Fire are round, we sit in hoops, we talk in hoops, we smoke in hoops, we gain insight in hoops. Like King Arthur and the round table kind of thing. Our clans were transformed by the Raven. He is also a shape-shifting being and transformed us. My tribe are wolves, my sister married into a beaver tribe. Etc. The totems were markers, saying that you were by the Quileute or Duwamish clans while still in the water. But what you WILL NEVER find, are creatures from lure. Sasquatch is not depicted on any of our Haida art from long ago. Period. End of story. The ways that my people looked and represented the world is truly unique. We had the best pictograph scales, we had lodges that are carved in amazing clarity and our boats are even better. We mapped our world using animals, it was like our flags. But Sasquatch?? You will not find. I would also like to point out that unlike other natives, many tribes and bands in the PNW, in many ways but one that is noticeable at 1st glance is we are very tall for natives. Chief Seattle was over 6 ft, I am 5'10 as a woman. We used animal skins as clothes....yes...it was wet and cold most of the year. But our most common regalia was made of cedar bark. Let's face it...most Americans believe we all looked like Plaines natives, we're half naked, short and rode horses a lot. But PNW natives most certainly did not look like that. So you show up in the 1700 or 1800 and see a 6'4" animal skin clad dark object watching you from the heavenly dense woods and you may think it was a big ass gorilla too. Think about it... Anyways! Have good days! "A ho"

I'm just letting the truth come out about OUR se'sxac or Sasquatch. Haha

That IS interesting and it makes a lot of sense. I mostly grew up hearing S'klallum and Suquamish stories, though I'm not a native speaker. Some elders WANTED us settler kids to learn and I did learn a bit in the like, 90s/early 00s effort to get Salish re-spoken by an new generation, but very little stuck, mostly just bits of chinook jargon and local slang with a Salish origin. (Also wow did I fail to learn all the languages I was supposed to: Only remember a little bit of French, Spanish and Salish.--Somehow learned more Ukrainian via osmosis from family I barely knew than I did any of the languages I was actually studying to learn.) I always heard it as more 'wild' but not 'hairy' or 'sea' though. Honestly, at least from locals here in the Kitsap Peninsula, I heard a LOT of stories of mysterious or demonic or fearsome critters from both settler stories and native stories and none of them were anything Sasquatchy. But the Peninsula's different at least. I honestly always figured the bigfoot legend being put into this area was people bringing an outside mythical or lore critter here due to confusion over insults directed specifically at the Skagit. I've read more than a few very old Suquamish bitch-outs about them being (insert insults here) 'wild men in the woods.' But on the other hand I've heard eastern-washington and Idaho and Southern Oregon tribes talk about Bigfoot like things like they're real/supernatural beings so who knows. I really cannot speak with any authority or deep knowledge outside what I grew up being told.

The more outlandish the claim, the better evidence needed. While admiralty it does sound a bit like being a prick....... The reason big foot is dismissed so much is because this would have to be a population of animals that are bigger than bears and yet Somehow also capable of such advanced thinking that they not only hide from humans, but make sure to make all corpses and habitat sites complete unrecoverable
